MHA Poolside | Tuesday | June 2

Loki took his game to a new fucking place today. It was just too damn nice to sit inside and wilt away when he could be outside, by the pool, sunning himself. That was how he preferred to work. Sans shirt and shading his eyes with both sunglasses and a baseball cap, Loki was propped up in one of the chaise loungers, content to spend the whole fucking day right there.

It wasn't like he got sunburned or shit like that. If anyone needed him, he'd left a note at the desk to tell them where he was. See how courteous he was? He was really fucking dedicated.

He had earbuds in and the music turned up loud but not loud enough to get sneaked up on. He was prepared for that shit, thank you.

[MHA is open!]

Martha bounded into the pool area, glad to be out an about on a walk. Lindsay wasn't much farther behind her.

"Alligators and my roommate turned into a goat," she started off with (Yes, that was her saying hello), "The scary thing is the goat part didn't freak me out as much as it should. Of course the fact that I didn't freak out kind of freaked me out so does that mean I'm getting used to this fucking place?"

"I spent two days cleaning giant goldfish out of the backyard," she said flopping into one of the deck chairs. "I'm never eating sushi again. Hey, what's this shit about you teaching a class?"

That got a snort of amusement.

"Clearly I need to weep for the future," she snarked. "Let me guess. You're teaching kids how to swear better."

Jack peered around, searching for short gray aliens. "There a 'Loki' around here?" he asked.

"LOH-KEEE", Jack enunciated. "As in, the Viking god of something-or-other. I used to know someone by that name, and the people on the radio seem to think he hangs out here."

"Really?" Jack asked. "That's news to me. People keep telling me to beware the omniscient power of the squirrels, and all."

He peered at Loki. "Aw, hell. You're that asshole from the bar way back when I was in town for the convention. You gotta work on your people skills there, Chuck. Now, look, I'm looking for a guy named LOKI, about yea tall" -- he held a hand four feet or so off the ground -- "gray-skinned and naked, with big black eyes. Or maybe not; he could be disguised with a hologram."

Sarah wandered out toward the pool. A swim would mean a nice break from her gym routine, and she was just vain enough to think she looked good tan. (Though her bathing suit was still a one-piece -- she saved the bikini for when tanning was more important than swimming.)

She sat on the edge of the pool to put on sunblock. "Loki," she smiled. "It's been a while. How's teaching?"

"Mine aren't too bad either," Sarah said, making an amused face at the overstatement. "Some of them gave up way too easy in our interrogations in class yesterday, but that's normal for rookies. And some of them have a lot of potential."

"You laugh, but this is exactly the right time to start planting ideas," Sarah said, and shrugged the shoulder she was rubbing lotion into. "I signed on the week after I turned eighteen. And I was potty-trained by then, thanks."

"Ah, there you are," said Daisy, although she wasn't surprised at all, dropping easily into a poolside chair as she would one of the lobby chairs.

"Good on you," said Daisy with a smile, and then she shook her head. "I'm in trouble, Loki."

"We've got someone new in at the station," said Daisy, wrinkling her nose with a thoughtful frown. "Nice guy. Didn't treat me like I was too mad when I told him about mutant alligators..."
