Covenient Garden Flower Shoppe, Monday, 8 May

Eliza'd scrubbed the Sharpie off the sign before she opened the store. She just felt like washing up today, for some reason!

Any customers would find her bopping happily about the place, humming and dusting.

The sign in the window read:

Covent Garden Flowers

Eliza Doolittle, prop.
Fresh, clean flowers from nosegays to bouquets!
Delivery available upon request.

Who is chipper and freshly scrubbed.

Irulan entered the flower shop, enticed by the perfume scents of the flowers. It reminded her of that one place in the palace. The one Irulan had cultivated after Lady Jessica left Arrakis.

"How do you do?" Eliza called, turning around at the sound of a customer entering. "Welcome to my shop," she added when she realized it was a new face before her. "May I help you find something in particular?"

Irulan took in the lady before her and smiled.

"Forgive me, but I was drawn in by your flowers," she said, "I've seldom seen such lovely and vibrant flowers."

"Thank you." Eliza dimpled at the compliment, though she had to admit, "There've been lovely ones all over the island this week, though, not just mine. It's as if they were all in an especially cheerful mood for some reason."

"I haven't ventured too much around the island, I only arrived a few days ago," Irulan explained, "but I shall take your word for it, miss...?"

"Doolittle," Eliza said, offering her hand. "I'm Eliza Doolittle. Welcome to the island, then!"

Irulan took the hand and shook it.

"Thank you, Miss Doolittle," she said and added, "I am the Princess Irulan Corrino-Atreides."

A certain bouquet of flowers caught her eye. "Oh, those are beautiful. ARe they by any chance, violets?"

Really the bearing ought to have told Eliza that without it being said; she'd been taught to tell a duchess from a flower girl and everything in between, after all. It irked her a bit that her instinct was to drop a quick, straight curtsy, but the idea of doing it so far from home amused her too, and so she did. "Your Highness. They are. Fresh picked this morning."

Irulan noted the curtsy, it was done correctly. She wondered if Miss Eliza Doolittle had experience in court. She had the look of it and yet, there was something not quite right to her Bene Gesserit trained eyes.

"Please, I also answer to Irulan," she told Eliza. Irulan touched the flowers and wondered at the dew staining the petals. Arrakis has changed but it was still something to see moisture so free and open.

"I'll take these," she said decisively.

Eliza smiled genuinely. "Irulan, then. And I'm Eliza. I'll wrap them for you, shall I?"

"Yes, thank you," Irulan said, smiling. "Have you been in town long, Eliza?"

"Since last autumn," Eliza answered as she reached for the roll of pale green paper. "Do you plan to stay? Or only here for a visit?"

"I plan to stay," she said, watching Eliza wrap the flowers with interest, "for how long remains to be seen."

"I've found it lovely here," Eliza said as she tied a ribbon round the bottom of the packet. "If frequently quite a bit mad."

Irulan smiled, "Lovely but a bit mad. I think that's an apt description for the island."
