Cabot and Associates, 63 Serendipity Way, Wednesday

Alex was sniffling a bit as she set up her laptop today. Her sinuses were bothering her. Must be the humidity. She had been tempted to stay home, but she was going to stick it out. Even if she might not have any clients show up today.

(open, OCD-free)

When Jack walked in her office, he had a six-pack of cold beer with a bow on it that he waved in her general direction. "I was gonna get you a card, too," he told her, "but they didn't seem to have a section for 'I hope you don't regret that we had sex when we were both mind-whammied.'"

"Yes, mind-whammied," Jack repeated. "That's a technical term, by the way. Pheromones, or a mind-control device, or a virus, or something. Wouldn't be the first time." He shrugged. "And hell, no, I don't regret it. You are, in my humble opinion, absolutely outstanding. Heck, I was hoping to talk you into another round."

"Oh, yeah, because I just LOVED the crick in my back, and all the bruises," Jack replied, grinning. "Besides, it's... No, I'm not really that kind of guy. The beer is yours whether or not you still want my hot body, by the way," he added. "I mean, you don't have to feel obligated, is all I'm saying."

Jack grabbed a seat, and one of the beers. "Do you mind if I...?" He waved it at her. "No, I don't think it was aliens -- the buzz is, the island just does things like that on occasion. Whatever it is, it's over. But you're still hot."

"This place is like some kind of episode of meta for the Twilight Zone," Jack told her, as he cracked his open and saluted her with it. "There's all sorts of crazy stuff going on. Even weirder than what I'm normally used to."

"In New York, no less!" Jack agreed. "I don't know how you do it. I'll take saving the galaxy from nigh-omnipotent aliens over that, any day." He frowned at her. "Did I mention that before? All the crap I gave you about classified this, and classified that -- the classified part is 'aliens'."
