Millie was feeling particularly tired today for some reason. She set out the drinks and pastries for the customers then curled up with a good book until she was needed.

Book Haven was open, even if the ex-goddess was too tired to be asexcited about that as usual.

Fiona came in, looking to see if she could find something good now that she'd finished with her mystery book. Maybe a mythology book she could keep. There probably wouldn't be a copy of Mythica Improbiba but something would be better than nothing.

Millie smiled at her. "Hello. Can I help you with something?"

She nodded and walked over to the shopkeeper.

"Do you have any books on mythology, perhaps?"

"Oh, of course," Millie said cheerfully. "From many different worlds even."

Oh. Well, that complicated matters.

"What about the kind that would have, um, Infernals. And maybe the Fates?"

...she really needed this book.

Millie nodded and led the way over to the very complete section of myths. It would be quite unlikely that the book she was looking for was missing.

The Mythica Improbiba was a rare book even in her own universe, considered an antique and a collector's item. It had been labeled as 'mostly lies' according to a note attached to the copy they'd found in the basement, but it had provided quite a lot of useful information.

"Do you know a good one?"

Millie laughed. "It depends on what you're looking for. Pretty stories, truths, half truths, outright lies, scholarly works?" She pointed out examples of each as she went by them.

"Truth," she said immediately.

"As much truth as possible. That still... mythology, as true as possible."

Millie pulled out several books and handed them to her. "These are quite good in my opinion."

She looked them over quickly and nodded.

"And... any on, um, fallen angels?"

Millie smiled. "I have only a few, right here." She pointed them out. "Unless of course you consider the bible and other such things. But books specifically about them...? right here."

"May I get those as well?" she asked, hoping she didn't sound too eager. She didn't exactly want people to know about her strange family situation.

"It's a bookstore," Millie said with a grin. "You can get all you want. And if there are ones you want that I don't have I can try and special order them."

"The Mythica Improbiba?" she finally asked, "Or Gods of the First and Twenty-first Century?"

One had referenced the other. Both would be useful, considering.

Millie nodded. "I'll order them for you."

She still didn't know how that could be possible, but she had to tell Eliot. Maybe there were other books they could order through this place.

"Thank you. It's... realy important."

Ex-goddesses - and powerful enchantresses - often had interesting connections.

"Not a problem," Millie assured her. "If I get stuck I'll have Gabriel look into it for me."

"Gabriel?" she asked, curious. She hadn't met anyone by that name, after all.

Newly-made goddesses could certainly use the help.

"Gabriel deWitt," Millie clarified. "A nine-lived enchanter who happens to be - or once was - my guardian."

"Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't... thought I might have missed him here."

"Oh, Asheth, no!" Millie said quickly. "I merely meant that I'm too old to technically need a guardian anymore. And he is back in the world where I come from."

"Of course. I have people back home I keep in contact with too. Obviously."

She blushed.

"Thank you. For the help."

"Oh, of course!" Millie said warmly. "And please do stop by anytime. I do so love chatting with people who love books."

"They were just about the only thing I've had for most of my life," she said with a little smile.

"Um, I think this is it for me. How much is it?"

"Me too," Millie said with a quiet smile. "And the things I had to go though to get them!"

She told the girl the total. "Do come back. And even if I'm not here or the store isn't open, I live just upstairs. Just ask for Millie."

"Fiona," she said, giving her own name as she put the total on her card. Her family could pay for books. After all, they had to know she'd investigate.

"I'm sure I'll be back. Especially for the books I mentioned."

Those she'd pay cash for.
