The Perk - Saturday morning - 6/20

"Did you know?"

Eliot was fiddling with his coffee, though Fiona wasn't sure if he was fiddling with it because he didn't want to answer or because he wasn't actually used to drinking coffee and just thought it sounded cool. Any other time, she would have pushed the sugar and the milk over to him, but at the moment she just watched him, waiting for an answer. Eliot scowled back at her.

"Of course I didn't know. How could I know?"

"You're the one who spent so much time with him!" his sister pointed out.

"And you're the one who got a text message about it," he said right back. There was a contest of glares for half a second, wherein Fiona was once more surprised that Eliot even fought her, before they both looked away.

"Okay," she let out with a sigh and a crooked smile, "so... we go see him after?"

"Yeah. Where is your friend?"

Fiona turned around to glance at the door and shrugged.

[open post is open; open perk is open!]

After getting the handwavey message from Fiona, Peyton had hurried to get ready and head over to the Perk. She certainly hadn't gone through a variety of outfits trying to find just the right thing to wear, oh no, not her.

All right, so maybe she was more than a little eager/nervous/excited to meet the incredible musician who also happened to be Fiona's brother. Still, she tried not to look totally starstruck as she came into the Perk and looked around to find them.

Peyton smiled and managed not to blush too noticeably, she hoped. "Hey, Fiona. Hi, Eliot. It's really nice to meet you. You're one incredible musicia."

[identity profile] playsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thanks," he said, turning a little pink as he ducked his head. Fiona rolled her eyes.

"I've heard a lot about you," he told Peyton.

[identity profile] darkangelsawyer.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, there was definite blushing going on here, too.

"Mostly not horrible, I hope," she said with a smile. "But really, it's good to meet you."

[identity profile] playsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"You too. You're, uh" and he kept back from saying really pretty by the skin of his teeth, "the one who wanted to do a recording?"

[identity profile] darkangelsawyer.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I'm putting a CD together to benefit breast cancer research and well, you're one of the best I've ever heard - and believe me I've heard a lot of the best - so... I'm hoping you'd let me put one of your pieces on my CD." She smiled at him hopefully.

[identity profile] playsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh."

A CD? He shared a glance with his sister, who rolled her eyes and shoved a little at his shoulder.

"Oh. Uh. What kind of song would you like?"

[identity profile] darkangelsawyer.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"I' be happy with anything you wanted to play," Peyton admitted.

Stopping in for his usual morning coffee, Griff was surprised to see Fiona in the shop as well. And accompanied by someone he was sure he ought to know.

Quickly thanking the clerk for his cup, he made his way over to them, burying any potential for awkward down deep as he sipped the hot liquid. Successful at that, he smiled and cleared his throat to allow for speech. "Hey there."

[identity profile] playsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Eliot was still blinking a little at the response of his sister to someone who wasn't Robert Farmington, but he stood up quickly himself and offered his hand awkwardly.

"Hi. Um..." and as he was blinking as he realized who this was, "OOOH. Griff. Hi."

He looked over at Fiona. This was Griff?

[identity profile] youcantfollow.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Eliot, good to meet you," Griff said, switching his coffee to his left so he could shake hands with the other boy. "Um, I had no idea you were in town."

[identity profile] playsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Eliot shook the hand firmly, even if it was a bit of a short shake, before he gave his sister a sideways smile.

"I was surprising her. I don't get to do it too often."

[identity profile] youcantfollow.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah, fantastic!" He was mainly just glad to see Fiona looking happy at the situation. "Are you in town long?"

[identity profile] playsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm just here for the weekend," he explained, looking Griff over. He'd liked Robert, for all that the other boy was ridiculously cool and smooth and everything he wasn't, but he knew how things were with their family. Eliot shared a glance with Fiona, who was smiling like a total dork at the two of them.

Have you told him? And she glanced back. Of course.

"My school is a lot more strict than yours seems to be."

[identity profile] youcantfollow.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
There was nothing ridiculously cool or smooth about Griff and he kept glancing nervously between the two while he spoke with Eliot.

"Fandom's certainly more relaxed than any boarding school I've heard about," Griff agreed, only knowing of the two, but still feeling his statement was correct. "Has she been taking you 'round?"

Dinah was stopping in the Perk for coffee before heading to Rock Con!, and waved when she saw Fiona and a guy she didn't know. "Hey, Fiona. How's it going?"

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Dinah grabbed her mocha and navigated over to the table, beaming at the boy when she got there. "Hi! I'm Dinah, I love your music," she said, holding out the hand without coffee. "And Fiona's told me a ton about you."

[identity profile] playsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Eliot ducked his head, not quite sure how to deal with people who had heard his music first and then met him. He felt like he was a let down to his own art.

"Thanks. I-I'm glad."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Dinah thought he might be just a little shy, maybe just around new people the way Fiona had been jumpy at first, so she slid into a chair near him and grinned at both him and Fiona. "Are you here for the convention? Are we going to get to hear you perform?" She perched her chin on her hand, watching him. "Did you write anything new yet?"

Give the kid a chance to breathe, Dinah.

[identity profile] playsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
He turned a little pink and adjusted his glasses again. Being brave in the face of Death and demons and immortal beings was one thing. Pretty blonds? Even Louis would say that was totally different.

"I'm here for the convention," he explained, tilting his head up to offer her a small, crooked smile, "and yeah, I'm sure you'll hear it. I, uh, don't exactly write music much. I just kind of play it."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Dinah could see a lot of Fiona in the smile, so immediately grinned back. "Yaaay. I loved the violin piece Fiona let me hear. I play it sometimes when I'm by myself, to help me calm down. But I thought that was yours? That no one else wrote it?"

[identity profile] playsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"It is mine," he admitted with a nod, "well, as much as anything. But I don't write it down. I just play."
