Arms Hotel Main Ballroom [Saturday workshops]

Looking for Band Members in All the Wrong Places - Ted Logan

Integrity vs Profit: How to choose - Tyler Ford

How to make orphan girls your slaves Glamour, Glitter, Fashion and Fame - Jem and the Holograms

[Please wait for the extensive OCD coming up And it's up! Go play. The workshops are not all running at the same time, so don't worry, you CAN make all of them. On a personal note, I want to apologize for not getting these up until now. We had some insane thunderstorms last night, and we lost power for a solid chunk of yesterday and this morning was spent surveying the damage.]

Ted arrived a little late, but bearing a big box full of a variety junk food from the fast food places around the island. "Afternoon dudes! Help yourselves!" He set the box up in the audience. "I am Ted 'Theodore' Logan, co-guitarist and co-singer of WYLD STALLYNS."

Yes, he played air guitar after that. And there was a random guitar noise that came out of nowhere when he did.

"For those of you most excellent audience members who come from a place where WYLD STALLYNS," yes, again, "doesn't exist, here's a little background." He explained about his BFF Bill S. Preston, Esq., the medieval princesses (now Bill and Ted's wives) on keyboard and drums, Death (yes, that Death) on double bass, the Martians 'Station' and good robot Bill and Ted.

"Bill and me actually wanted Eddie Van Halen, but by taking things as they came and being open-minded, we ended up not only with the most successful band in the history of all the worlds at home, but some most bodacious babes and some most triumphant friends!"

"Any questions?" he asked, opening a soft taco.

Band members! Why, Bow was always in search of new people to share his music with! He was eager to hear this speech.

Oz had been on his own for a while, and kind of missed playing with a band. This might be a good place to start looking right?

And Ted hung around at the end too to chat.

Tyler didn't look at all nervous or a worried as he took to the microphone. Honest.

"Hey, my name's Tyler and I used to be the lead guitarist for neo-hippie jam band Casanova Charlie, which some of you might know for their number one hit song, Dreams of Monica. Which I wrote about my monogamous and herpe-free girlfriend Monica." He paused and took at sip of water before continuing "Unfortunately, right before before we released the song, I got dumped for our d-bag bass player, and in a fit of artistic integrity I quit the band, and gave up my share of the royalties. And then Dreams of Monica stayed at the top of the charts for a month, or three. So score one for sticking to your principles there."

"I mean it's not all bad," Tyler added quickly. "I mean, I'm not playing live at Buddhacon or swimming in a pool filled with money, but I have my artistic integrity, I work for a guy like Bono only better, and most importantly my new girlfriend is like so much more awesome than yours or your boyfriend, whichever's applicable."

"I guess what I'm saying is when you become a musician, you have to figure out what's really important to you, being incredibly rich and famous, or your principles as an artist, so that if you have to choose, you'll know to pick the right one."

After he finished his speech Tyler looked around with a not-at-all-nervous grin. "So, any questions?"

Through some cruelly ironic twist of fate, Wendy had somehow managed to miss Tyler's name on the program right up until he actually came on to talk.

Of course it wasn't like she had any proof it was 'her' Tyler, or that this Tyler had ever met any version of her at all.

At least that was what she kept telling herself up until the awesome girlfriend comment.

Then she crouched down in her seat, made a quick and whispered phonecall and pondered fleeing. After Tyler finished talking about how awesome she was.

Hi! Just wondering if there's going to be another general mingling thread/post today for those of us rockstars who don't have workshops going on. :)
