Laundry was being done at the gym today.

Laundry was done at the gym every day, but today there was a mound of towels behind the counter rising to Tyler's waist. "What the hell?" he asked the aerobics instructor.

Leotard chick popped her gum, shrugged, and told him she was glad she wasn't the one who had to fold them. Tee hee. Then she wandered off to lead a Jazzercise group.

Tee fucking hee. Tyler got to work folding, grateful he was back to teaching in two weeks.

The gym was open.

He's going to get a repetitive stress injury from folding.

"...enjoying your day?"

Someone call the police, Tony had made his way out of the lab.

"Thrilling. I think there are enough towels here for everybody in town to make a quilt," Tyler said, looking up from what felt like the 500th one he had folded. "Hi. How are you?"

"Are you planning to take up sewing?"

Tyler blinked at Tony a few times. "No. But I did promise somebody up at the school I'd knit her a pink hat to channel my violent urges."

Okay, way to make Tony do a double-take.

"What?"

Okay, sometimes messing with Tony was just fun.

"I promised. A teacher. I'd knit. A hat. To channel. My. Violent. Urges," he said, very very very slowly.

"I can always find someone else to visit," Tony reminded him dryly. Even though he so couldn't.

"Sure. Hot Yoga should be letting out in a couple minutes," Tyler said, glancing at the clock. "The instructor's a freaking genius, if you wanna talk vegan food for ninety minutes."

Tyler had told her he believed animals tasted good because God wanted them to be eaten. The conversation hadn't lasted much longer.

"Vegan, hmm?" Tony looked around for her for a moment. "I find a trip to another country cures that usually."

"Where it's yak meat or nothing?" Tyler checked. "Yeah. I can see that."

He backed up because, frankly, he didn't especially want Tony paying too much attention to that Hot Yoga teacher. "So, this chick Veronica Mars thinks I'm going to blow up the school. She told me to find a different hobby and I told her I could knit." A pause. "She never liked me."

"You're knitting because of an old highschool rivalry?" Oh, that was cute.

Tyler glared, though it was muted.

"Did you miss the part where she thinks I'm going to blow people up?"

"Which you're not going to," Tony replied casually. Oh please, he employed bomb makers.

"Which I'm not going to," Tyler said. Duh.

"But -- that's more than she beat me out for volleyball captain, or what the fuck ever."

"Have you talked to her since then?"

"I didn't talk to anybody between leaving here and coming back. My contact got cut off," Tyler said. He was fairly certain Tony had heard this, but it wasn't as if he dwelled on the story. "I think she might have called once when I first got here, but other than that ... not in, like, 14 years for me."

"I meant after the offering her a hat," Tony replied dryly.

"Oh! No. I don't exactly hang out with her." Tyler blushed at the misunderstanding. "Sorry for the life history."

"Would it help if I shared mine? We could stay up all night just talking."

Oh, be more of a bitch, Tony.

"Yes, please," Tyler said, folding his hands neatly in front of him. "Tell me all about every calculus test you ever took and how your potty training made you feel."

The sick thing was, he would have listened.

Tony just snorted. "I graduated college around when you left high school. It's really not that interesting until after that point."

"Of course not, but what were you like when you were a kid?" Tyler asked, genuinely curious.

"Other than insanely smart. And don't say I'll find out next time the island goes weird."

I'm going to have to find a way to use this icon next invasion.
