The Park, Sunday Late Afternoon

Why had she agreed to do this again?

Oh. Right. Because she'd been insane last night and decided that she'd needed something utterly ridiculous to distract her from, well, that whole leaving bit. Stupid leaving bit. People shouldn't be allowed to go.

She gave the table set up with drinks and food a considering glance, wondering if she had time to snag a glass of something before Edward (who was arranging the last of the flowers and the platform to his satisfaction) made her get up there and sing.

Again.

Nevermind that it was her suggestion this time. Sort of. Maybe. All his fault, actually. Really. Honest!

Ino cast a look over the park, and wondered how many people would show up this time. Joy.

Prince Edward was finished! And perfectly satisfied with the way everything was set up. It was lovely and would hopefully draw people in. He so enjoyed hearing Ino sing!

Tossing his royal cape over one shoulder, he called out to his lovely duet partner: "Lady Ino! It is time! Ahhhh but it is going to be a glllllorious afternoon!"

Ino twitched, hand falling away from the glass she'd been about to take, and glanced over her shoulder at him.

"You're even more excited than last time," she noted, obediently drifting over to where he was. "That's slightly frightening."

And, okay, yes. She'd be put-out if no one showed as well. Not that she'd admit it.

"I am in an excellent mood, spritely Ino! You are going to sing and lift your sweeEEEeet voice in song!" He was very encouraging, that prince.

He extended a hand in a gallant gesture to help her upon the platform.

Ino's Solo ["Beauty in Walking Away"]

Ino had to privately admit that her song probably wasn't as happy as Edward would've wanted, but he'd let her choose and frankly, he was lucky to not be getting something in super obnoxiously cheerful J-Pop.

Not that Ino really believed that he'd know what J-Pop even was. But whatever. She was totally being nice. She lifted her voice in song:

Ino shook her head, smiling slightly.

"The time is here and she won't be waiting for me to find the easy way out
I've lost count of the days that were wasted

Ino utterly adored the chorus. That quite possibly showed as her singing was at it's most natural, and her stance was far more relaxed in this song than it had been in any of the others. In this one, she knew what she was doing every second of the song.

"I float on the streets that are empty..."

Ino couldn't help the twitch she gave her skirts there, no really.

"Take the path that the wind only knows
Tonight is the last time that I'll ever be here

She spun in place, and held out her hands to the audience beseechingly.

Her voice went low, and just loud enough to be heard as the song wound down.

She drew out the last word, her eyes luminous as she finished. Ino waited a second, bowed very properly, then looked up and blew a kiss at the audience.

There. She'd done it again. And, this time, she'd actually rather enjoyed it. Ino waited to see what Edward would say about her 'happy' song.

Shut up. It was totally a happy song. Sort of. To Ino, at least, it wasn't a sad song.

Edward was nearly speechless did she captivate him so. And there were tears in his eyes.

Of course he was a man, a princely man at that, so he blinked and dried them up quickly.

"Ino," he breathed out, smiling almost sadly. "You sang beautifully, my dear. But... but it was so sad!"

She smiled at him, blue eyes serene. "It wasn't sad to me."

Not exactly happy either, but that was a small detail.

You didn't really expect anything modern and not from an animated production, did you?

Phhbt. He'd learned it. It was lovely. And he was going to sing it to his one true looooove! His life's partner (he wouldn't say that out loud), his one coquette, the answer to his love's duet! Adora could not sing and he would never hold it against her. He would sing for the both of them! Ah-hah!

With a winning smile aimed at Ino, he faced the audience, smiled for all and sundry, and then focused his brilliant blue gaze on his gorgeous princess!

Will come to youuuu..."

He preened and dramatically placed his hand over his heart.

His smile was endearing, his eyes like brilliant sapphires as he looked upon his beauty.

He dropped to one knee, hand reaching skyward, and he sang the last line with heartfelt emotion, his voice strong and lifted high.

"Your dreams coOOOOome truuUUUUUUUe!"

Rising to his feet, he swept a bow, grinning broadly.

Ino supposed she should have expected a song like that. She smiled as he finished though. "Very nicely done," she complimented him. Even if the song wasn't to her taste, he did sing it well.

With a cheerful bob of his head, he laughed joyously. "Thank you, little one! Tonight, find your star and wish upon it, my dear. Wonderful things will happen, you'll see."

Aphrodite was lost. But it was a nice day, if a little warm, and there was music. She'd arrived a little later than most, so after swiping a cookie from the table, she found a convenient tree to lean against.

They were singing about love, in the park. The guy was handsome, the girl was sure cute -- and Aphrodite was thinking she just might enjoy Fandom after all.

With a smile on her face, she was content for the moment to listen. She'd open the store when she got there.

Ino tugged at her hair, glad enough to finally have gotten the drink she'd wanted from the very beginning, and watched the audience with a pensive look on her face.

"Ino-chan!" Dōjima cheered, bouncing up to the other girl. She could totally get away with the diminutive, by virtue of being older and fleeing the school before the ninja could get her revenge. Hopefully. "Bravo!"

A slow flush crawled up her face, even as her eyes narrowed slightly at the change in address.

Bit shocking, that. To go from Yamanaka-san to Ino-chan all at once.

"Thank you," she said, sipping at her punch. "Totally better than last performance."

Mainly because she'd got to sing what she'd wanted to sing this time around.
