J, GoB - Tuesday Afternoon
George had promised Maron conversation with pastries, and from his less-than-a-week old knowledge of the island, he knew that the God of Biscuits was the place t'be for pastries.
But until he walked in the door, he'd expected regular stuff. Rastons and meat pies and maybe if they were lucky, a few tarts or somethin' with fruit.
...give him a few minutes, he was still staring at the racks and rows of sweets and pastries in the display cases.
[OOC: for that girl who agreed to pastries but open too, yes]

"Not a bad selection at all, don't you think?" she said, grinning up at him. "You seem surprised?"

The ones he never visited as a paying customer...

Naturally, some was more expensive than others, but really definitely not so expensive that only nobles could afford them.

Maron was going to do that anyway, as she swept up to the counter and started pointing things out. Clearly, he needed a pastry education.

"Di'nt know you could get sick on food," George admitted, watching what she was pointing out. "Unless tis bad or some such." He pointed at a tartlet. "Is that one cherry?"
no subject
She picked out peanut-butter chocolate chip squares, apricot-almond tarts, lemon squares, chocolate mousse and paused considering what else to add.

Because the itty bitty little cream puff swans (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3096/2631703475_88e67760a4.jpg?v=0) were utterly adorable.
"That's everything for now, unless you see something else you want to try?"

and his mun really wanted one of those swans now.He glanced up at the shopgirl, handing her the amount of money she said and really hoping he'd counted the odd paper money properly.
It was a pretty shop now that he'd looked at more than the exits and the vast racks of pastries. "Do we want t'sit down?" he asked Maron.
no subject
Maron figured he'd appreciate that.

"I'd advise starting with something that has fruit in it though," Maron added primly. "As chocolate tends to be the best last."

"I might have guessed that after yesterday," she said teasingly. "Though what that means for you guessing about me..."
no subject
"Lass in a shop," he said instantly, teasing back. "One that sells ribbons p'haps."

She was just going to try that pastry now, yes. He was taking forever!

"'M sure it wouldn't be a total waste," George pointed out. "But when ye can climb in a window, why would ye?"

"I don't really do it all that often anyway," she explained. "So I'd need a proper job no matter what."

She ate another bite. "I have a patron," she said, picking her words carefully. "Who has me get things for him."
That was a novel description for God, Maron.
no subject
"What kind of things?" he asked. He knew there were some nobles involves at some level with th' Court, but it wasn't something he approved of or dealt with really. "Our nobles don' really - get into things like that. To hooked up with th' Palace an' Provost."
no subject
An easy 'A'?

"As long as she doesn't want me to explain all of the tech!" Maron laughed. "I'd fail then."
no subject
"Twas th' other blonde lass who looked t'know about th' tech," George pointed out. "Plus th' teacher could always explain it herself."
no subject
"True," she said, and winked. "Besides, I wouldn't want people actually paying attention to me that much!"
A beat.
"What do you think of the pastry?"
no subject
"Yer patron wouldn't like it?"
He nodded quickly with wide eyes, having tasted more than a few of the pastries by now. "Tis - I've never had anythin' like it."
no subject
"My patron," a bit of a rueful smile, "wouldn't mind all that much, but it'd make me uncomfortable."
A bit of a Gallic shrug to that.
Maron smiled, looking down at the tray. "I'm glad you're enjoying them." She was after all, though he'd eaten more than her.
no subject
"Very much so," he said, almost embarrassed at having eaten more, but she had a fork too, didn' she? And he'd known gixies who ate far more than him so it hopefully wasn't that he'd been hoggin' the food. "An' ye? They are good, yes?"
no subject
Like angels and Gods and demons.
"Very good," she laughed. "Don't worry about me at all--I don't eat that much."
