Morgan's Hardware - Thursday, 7/09
Morgan was starting to wonder if he shouldn't get out sometime tonight. After all, he'd been working on the house and his casework for what seemed like, hell, seemed like an eternity. He needed a beer, some dancing, a bit of music...
Maybe meet that Constable Day from the police station, if he was lucky.
That said, he was currently in his store, half working on BAU business with his laptop behind the counter and half sketching out the designs for the shelving unit he was going to make for that Ino girl. And he still had to get clearance for the shooting range and oh yeah, drag Reid there. That boy better have remembered to bring his sidearm or Morgan was going to give him trouble.
Well, whenever the cat came out of the bag, anyway.

He wasn't even trying.
Reid shook his head slightly, and walked in.

Morgan didn't actually look to the door as he heard it open part because he was working on a fiddly bit of wording for a report and part because the step was so damn familiar it didn't even require looking.

"I like it. Had me bustin' my ass for a few days, but she cleaned up nice."

"I don't know. It was kind of... what would you have said if I'd said something?"
no subject
"I'm not sure," he eventually had to admit.

"How much research did you do on this place before you signed up to teach?"
He rubbed a hand over his head.
"Cause either those smarts of yours are on vacation too, or you missed the part about the mutant alligators from the sewers that attacked a few weeks ago. At least, I like to think you did."
Translation: don't even try and ask me to leave, this here is bat country.

He had his gun and credentials!

Yes, he's double checking on this.

"Not unlikely. At all. I've been listening to the old radio broadcasts for the last few days. Crazy shit happens here all the time."

Maybe this wasn't the place to take a 'vacation' after all.

"Most of it isn't harmful," he admitted, grudgingly. "Things like people turning into animals or desserts falling from the sky. It's freaky, impossible stuff, but it's not harmful.
"But then there's the 'gators."

"I don't want to think about it," he admitted, "but" more grudgingly "I think you teaching here could be a good thing. A really good thing. Even with all the freaky crazy fantasy sci-fi stuff going on."
He was actually pretty sure that was exactly what Reid needed. Despite his own fears, the kid was anything but unaware of the line between reality and fantasy. Sometimes, too much so. Morgan was pretty sure that if Reid needed anything during his 'rest', he needed to get back a bit of wonder. And if this place could do it, well, then they were staying. They.
"But I'm sticking around to make sure no 'child's dream' eats up one of my teammates."
He crossed his arms.
"And that's not changin'."

He was well-aware of the way they all looked out for him, even when he didn't really need it.

"When you send the right man, you only need one," he said with a bow of his head.
And Morgan, at least, had some sort of excuse to be here. Hotch had enough going on with his family situation, Rossi was always dealing with his books and his publicists, JJ was occupied, and Prentiss, well, Reid and Prentiss occasionally grated and this had required a soft touch.
Hence Morgan.
...also, Morgan had insisted. Because he was Morgan.
"And it's not like Garcia doesn't demand status reports."

Plus, hey, she'd heard that the owner was hot. And she did enjoy a pretty man.
Which explained why she was meandering around the shop.

"Let me know if you need anything, all right?"
