Morgan's Hardware - Tuesday, 07/14
...he was going to have to break the whole 'friends with an angel' thing to Reid soon. He didn't want to, he was pretty sure it was going to be a mess, but not saying anything at all kind of felt a little slimy to him and he figured forewarned was forearmed, right? As long as Morgan broke it to him carefully, it shouldn't be a problem if they bumped into each other somewhere.
Like the store. Or the house. Where they both had at least some reason to be on occasion.
The problem was 'how', since he'd only have one shot at this. Which was why he was muttering to himself as he worked on his laptop behind the counter.

Which would be why, come her lunch break, she was bouncing into the shop with a hot chocolate--shut up, that totally counted as lunch--and beamed at him.
"I got your call!" Ino informed him. "Hi!"
no subject
"Hey, good to see you. Got something for you to look at.
"First things first, though. How you doing?"
no subject
No Ino, you yelled, lectured, and raged. He cringed.
"And patched Edward up yesterday 'cause apparently he got his nose broken somehow, and I now know hair ribbons totally have attitude and mine and Elena's party was super fun last Thursday."
A beat.
"So. Pretty good." You know, if she ignored all the things that were less good and she was doing a pretty good job of that, really. "How 'bout you?"
no subject
"I've been worse. Mostly, it's been interesting. And I've been doing a lot of work to get a room finished up in the house I'm at. Reid, the teacher? he's moving in this week."
He patted the counter.
"Here, I was thinking something like this (http://a248.e.akamai.net/f/248/38435/6h/www.improvementscatalog.com/images/en_US/local/products/248x/rolling-trellis-340261.jpg) for you, if you get what I'm doing here."
His version was a little more ornate, with some interesting woodwork along the sides, and nicer shelves she could mix and match, but the picture was about right. Space on the bottom for her trays, movable shelving to accommodate different plants and their growth, and plenty of room on the trellis for vines.
"I can make it rolling or stationary. Whatever way you prefer. And I'm totally up for your thoughts on materials."
no subject
She tugged at her hair thoughtfully as she studied the design closely. "Rolling, I think," she said, tracing one finger down the side design. "So I can move it as I want."
She really needed to get rid of that spare bed in her room. This clearly was more important.
"So something that's... steady but not, like, super heavy, I guess," she mused, talking mostly to herself.

no subject
Shhh. She liked purples. He could probably make that guess.

He slipped out from behind the counter and pulled up a wood sample (http://www.gilmerwood.com/images/12-09-02lum-purpleheart.jpg).
"How's purpleheart sound to you? I've got a line on it for a decent price, and it's a good solid wood. Even takes shocks pretty well."

"I'm gonna do some steel reinforcement, minor stuff that shouldn't effect the aesthetic. And, of course, the wheels, so you should be good for using it for transport too.
"Looking at the design and--" he held up a finger and pulled over a notebook before flipping through it until he found the right page, "considering the price of wood, I can do this for you for
very reasonable handwavey amount, half now and half on completion with a full money back guarantee if you don't want the finished product."Because profit was one thing, but swindling kids? Not his game.

Really, Ino was seeing no bad stuff about this. It was exciting!
"That sounds pretty good to me," she said, flashing him a brilliant smile. "Uh, you take debit, right? 'Cause I could go get the cash, if you need me too, but..."
Really, that was a pain.
no subject
"Yeah, I take debit. Not a problem."
no subject
Ino dug her card out and offered it to him to swipe. "How long do you think it'll take?" she asked.
no subject
"Lemme see... a week for the wood to come in, and then, honestly, I should have it done in about a week after that, considering my schedule. I can't guarantee that, though, since I might get called to leave for a couple of days for my real job."
no subject
Because, seriously, purple trellis. Purple. Trellis.
no subject
"And if that's good for you, it's good for me."
no subject
no subject
no subject
"Some kind of cop-thing?" Maybe?
no subject
It's what he had to do.
no subject
"Well," she said, giving that a bit of a shrug. "If it's your job, then you can't help it."
Even if her skin kind of crawled at the thought being analyzed.
no subject
no subject
Really, as part of everything else it was okay, but.
Yes, Ino lacked tact.
no subject
"It's a pain sometimes, and yeah, it gets in your head.
"But someone's got to do it."

Really now, criminals were kind of boring to Ino.
no subject
"Because that's who I am. The appealing part? Is knowing that each time you get into their heads, you know more about the next one. The more you know, the quicker you can figure them out, the more you see when you look at a crime scene, the faster the puzzle pieces come together. And the faster you know them, the fewer bodies on the ground at the end of the day.
"That's why I do it."
no subject
no subject
"Why do you think I got into carpentry?"
no subject
no subject
"No way, Ino, I've been doing this for years. I was surprised to see this place didn't have a hardware store, though."
no subject

no subject
"Good. That's the important thing."
He glanced around the shop for a moment before--
"You need anything else? We've got gardening supplies in the back. 10% off for giving me some interesting carving to do."
no subject
Hm. Maybe Reno could use some stuff. Him and his beans.
no subject
no subject
This was a lie. Oh well.
"Do you have just the tools?" she asked. "Any sun lamps?" She could hope.
no subject
no subject
"If you wouldn't mind?" Ino asked, looking winsome.
no subject
"You looking for big, little, medium?"
no subject
no subject
"That right?"
