Trooper Station; Monday Morning [ 07/20 ].

Daisy's mood was much more somber than it usually was when she came into the station to get the most out of her morning hours. The injury to her leg had made it a bit too painful to skate into work today, so there was that, but mostly she was just worried about poor Dinah. Of course Daisy understood that what had happened was entirely the girl's own powers, but that didn't stop her from just feeling wretched about the whole thing. She hoped her hand was okay, or that Ronan could do something to help it.

At least there were radio transcripts to transcribe this morning, and, really, considering who did radios on weekend, those were doing plenty to help alleviate some of her concern.

Dinah had bought muffins after her salle practice. As a thank-your-and-still-sorry for Daisy, then more for all the rest of the cops, because they got hungry too, right? She couldn't decide on coffee or tea, so she'd gotten both.

"Detective-Constable Day?" Dinah gave her a hopeful smile when she finally spotted her, then held out the box. "Happy Monday. And did Ronan fix your leg okay?"

Dinah flexed her hand with only a minor wince for Daisy to see, and smiled. "He's good at that. He fixed my nose the time a zombie broke it, and my ribs when there were invading aliens. I'm going to have to learn to heal up the normal way after he's gone." She gave Daisy a cheerful look. "I'm glad he could help you out too. I wanted to be sure."

"Yeah. Well, I think so." Dinah's look had melted into one of chagrin. "The people I've seen do that? Have some kind of invulnerability. I don't know how much force I was using when I hit you, but my hand and bones and muscles weren't strong enough to not catch the impact too." She sighed. "So much for that idea."

Oh, she learned it. And having Arthur mock her drove it home, too. Dinah also felt bad she'd hurt Daisy in an uncontrolled, unexpected way.

"I think next time I need to practice something new like that on a dummy first," she admitted. "With boxing gloves or some other padding on. Tahiri and I practice with helmets and full skater's pads and stuff when we're doing our TK bouts." She grimaced. "Or maybe a physics book for dummies?"

"She can throw me across the salle!" Dinah protested automatically, then laughed. "And vice versa. It's fun. We ended up almost spinning around each other in the air once, pushing in opposite directions." She bounced on her toes. "Fight Club's for other stuff. For when the TK fails me and I need to know what else to do."

Dinah opened her mouth, then closed it, thinking. "Hmm." She considered. "I don't use it on most people there, so I get practice just fighting without powers, but you're okay with it. But... " Biting her lip, she conceded reluctantly, "You might have something there." Dinah used her TK all the time at home-- but under Helena's direction, as they took on criminals together, and yeah, never when unnecessary. "Maybe I need to reduce it. To see what the bare minimum I'd need to win a fight would be. Plus, well. Back home I'd want to keep it more discreet. Since most people don't know about meta-powers."

"True. And yeah, not fun. I'll have to work harder next week, to make up for the practices I had to go easy on during this one." Dinah smiled at her. "Thanks, Daisy. I should probably let you get back to your work." She peered around the office, looking extremely curious. "Is there a lot to do here, on Mondays?"

"No runaway rickshaws, or unsolved thefts of television sets, or mad graffiti artists?" Dinah may have looked a little disappointed. "Still. You guys must have a lot to do during invasion times." She gave the place another wistful look.

"Yeeeeah." Dinah got that part in her bones, and the rest wasn't hers to know about. Sadly. "Anyway. You have a good week, okay? And I'll see you at Fight Club!"
