The Arms Hotel Lobby, Friday [7/24]

Thank goodness for the small television in the lobby. Mary wouldn't admit to watching soap operas, but today they were doing a good job keeping her entertained. Occasionally, Gunther would turn up and the front desk and try to change the channel to the Food Network, but Mary usually came up with some excuse for him to get back to the kitchen. Sure, Gunther was not going to be happy when he found out he was cooking room service meals for non-existent guests, but it's ideas like that that made Mary the boss.

"Still staying in town, I hope?" asked Mary, pulling up the files she needed to prepare Dani's bill.

"Yeah, still in town," Dani told her, she looked around, "is there anyone I can talk to about moving my luggage?"

"Just up to Mallard Way," Dani took out her pen and wrote at the back of her LAPD calling card, "Unit-2, Mauvice Chance Apartments."

Mary nodded. "I had a friend who lived up that way when he lived in Fandom, and he really seemed to like it," she said. "Just call down to the front desk when you're ready, and I'll send someone up to help you with your bags."

"Thanks," Dani paused, debated asking about the moving book covers. "Didn't mention anything weird, did he?"

"I think his vacuum came to life once and started cleaning the apartment all on its own," said Mary. "But that was the same day that my broom came to life here at the hotel, so it must have been an island-wide thing."
