Trooper Station: Tuesday

It was a busy day on the phones for Dale as there were plenty of people calling in to complain about the fact they were talking in rhyme.

Not that there was anything that the police station could do anything about that, but Dale was happy to the complaint calls and assure everyone that this would no doubt end very soon.

In the middle of all the complaints, one important call did come through.

At first Dale thought that it was the FBI branch requesting his assistance to do another profile but as it turned out it was something all together.

It was a job offer.

And while it was unexpected, it was too good of an opportunity to turn down, especially with where the job was going to be.

After a few moments of consideration he gave them his answer and a date when he would be able to start. A few minutes later he had drafted a resignation letter and contacted the Mayor's office to let them know what was going on so he could make sure there would be a smooth transition.

And then he was back to taking phone calls.

"I assure you Madam, please let me make it clear.
This rhyming thing is nothing to fear.
So please stop calling and don't raise a fuss.
When you use that language you make a sailor blush."

Dale was truly going to miss the phone calls. Really.

"...What was that, Coop?" Ray asked, sticking his head out of the way of the goddamn computer. "We havin' another spell or somethin'?"

Dale shook his head in amusement and then waved Ray to come into his office.

"Please come into my office, for we need to talk
I have an offer that for which you might balk."

"Hey, you don't hear me rhyming," Ray muttered, following him into his office anywhere. "This place is weird."

"Weird it may be, but it's the nature of the beast.
Though I do find it amusing at the very least," Dale replied.

"The reason why I've brought you in her today
Is that I've gotten a job offer and I cannot stay.
Due to your record and the services you've done
I've found you to be second to none.
So it is with great pride and just a little flourish
That I'm offering you the job as this town's sheriff."

Ray did not say anything. This was bad.

Ray did not rhyme, however. That was good. That was really good.

However, the good part was once again outweighed by the bad, which was that he choked on his coffee.

There was a phonecall from a roaming number (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/4230747.html).

"Yes, hello? This is Darren Nichols, currently working down at the Boards here as a favor for an old college 'friend'. I have a young man here who's threatening to 'run me through', is how he put it, and I'd like to have him forcefully removed from my theatre."

This was certainly not how he expected to spend the evening. What was wrong with these men? These lawful men? Did they not understand the situation? A lady was involved here!

WOE.

The CONFUSION hurt.

He sat and stared at bars. This was oddly unthinkable. What would Adora say?

WOE.

He was hardly aware of the crime committed.

Sometimes people spoke so strangely! And that Darren. Grrrr. He must be taught a lesson! He MUST!

Savannah was of course there. She had called Sean and her brother was going to be heading down to do his best to bail Edward out of jail. It was the least they could do since he had been trying to defend her from Darren's verbal abuse.

"Edward, I am so so sorry. I called my brother and he's on his way."

"Edward?" Dinah had missed most of the Drama due to talking to Priestly, but it was kind of hard to miss Troopers taking someone away. "What happened?"

"Okaaaay. I'm guessing, from our new Director?" Dinah asked, sitting down outside the cell and putting out a hand to touch his on the bars. "Did you hit him or something?"

He looked at her hand touching his as he grasped the bars. Sigh. Big big sigh. "What an insufferable cowardly troll that man is. No, I swear to you. I did not lay a single hand upon that man."

He just threatened to run him through.

Edward beamed. How could he not? Priest was here and apparently he agreed with his gentlemanly pursuit to defend the lady Savannah.

"That man was vile!"

There were no case files and the phone kept ringing about people rhyming. By the fifth call Reese was out of there and pacing and the pacing lead to the cell room. And right now she was leaning against a cell door looking at an uncommon sight in FPD.

An occupied cell.

"This is new."

Sean looked less than thrilled as he approached. Then again, when you were going to be possibly bailing one of your sister's friends out of jail, you weren't really filled with the warm and happy.
