The Preserve, Tuesday after classes

Well, this was sure to be the oddest form of training Zayne had done here in Fandom. It was probably the oddest form of training he had done at all, even with his Masters, as long as you didn't count things that were potentially fatal. (That kind of went with the territory of being a Padawan.)

As he stretched and waited for Rose, Zayne was trying to figure out exactly what kind of benefits skipping might actually provide. He was pretty much stuck on improved agility and increasing his resistance to embarrassment.

Rose had come prepared in running clothes and shoes. She was not, however, wearing boots. She left that to the insane Jedi.

"So," Rose called when she saw Zayne. "Come here often?"

Oh the mocking, it would be fierce.

"About once a week thanks to Rangering class," Zayne said. "But not usually for skipping."

"Rangering should be 'Rangering and Skipping'," Rose decided. "They're missing an opportunity here."

"Professor Minsc might actually run with that idea," Zayne said. "So I don't think I'm going to mention that to him."

"And see, I think the proper response would be skipping," Rose teased.

Zayne stopped stretching and skipped forward a couple of steps. "I'm sorry, is that better?"

"It's adequate," she teased. "But I meant your teacher!"

Zayne thought about it for a moment. "Oh, I see what you did there. Pretty funny."

"I thought so," Rose agreed. She often thought she was funnier than she was, yeah. "Are we ready to do this thing?"

"I am," Zayne said, despite his robes and boots and general lack of looking like he was at all dressed for this kind of thing. "Do you need to stretch first or anything?"

"I ran up here," Rose said with a shrug. She eyed his outfit. "...you need to change first or anything?"

"Believe it or not, these are my training clothes," Zayne said, returning the shrug. He was used to the fact that his clothes weren't at all typical for Fandom. "My Master dresses me funny, I know."

"See now, I was giving you credit for dressing yourself," Rose teased easily.

"I do what I can with the limited wardrobe choices," Zayne said. "But there are only so many usable combinations, so I can't really take any credit."

"I have to wear a uniform after I swear my oath," Rose offered, feeling slightly bad for teasing. "I probably shouldn't talk."

"You still have time before that happens, right?" Zayne checked. "Feel free to mock. I'll just be sure to mock you back when your time comes."

"Deal," Rose said with a nod. "And I'll just have to wear awesome clothes until then."

"Good," Zayne said. "Embrace your time before the uniform. Enjoy it. Because you're going to miss the fashion freedom when it's gone."

Zayne didn't actually mind his robes. It just sounded good.

"And what would you wear if you didn't have a uniform?" Rose asked, because she totally believed him. Rly.

"Something that I'm less likely to trip over," Zayne said. "Master Lucien usually expects me to wear the long robe he gave me and I'm kind of a klutz."

"A robe seems pretty bulky to fight in," Rose said. "Why's he stuck on a robe?"

"They're traditional for Jedi," Zayne said. "But mine is more flow-y than they usually are. I think that's just because he likes the dramatic swooping. It works better for him than it does for me, though."

"Maybe after we have skipping down, we could work on swooping," Rose said thoughtfully.

"Do you have a lot of practice with swoopy clothes?" Zayne asked.

"Nooo," Rose admitted. "But it'd be fun to try."

"If we need some pointers, we could talk to Master Skywalker," Zayne said. "He seems to be an expert."

Rose snickered. "I wonder if it's a family secret or if he'd teach it to others. Can Ben swoop like a drama queen?"

Oh, Rose, don't call a Jedi Master that.

"I've never seen him try," Zayne said. "I'm sure he could get a good swoop going if he wanted to, though."

Rose was kinda bummed she didn't have anything she could swoop with. Cause that would be pretty awesome.

"Skipping first though. Shall we?"

"We shall," Zayne said.
