Strokes of Genius, Wednesday
There were certain advantages to putting laundry off as long as possible and then doing it in the most desultory way ever when it finally needed to be done -- at least for Katchoo, who didn't have enough of a wardrobe to make those Inevitable Laundry Loads too unwieldy to manage alone. (What? Like she was some kind of social laundry-doer?)
There were disadvantages, too -- the end result of one of which was grabbing for a balled-up pair of socks while half asleep, trying to dress for work, and stumbling towards the door all at the same time, not realizing one was an old and threadbare full-length crew sock with a giant hole in the vicinity of the big toe, and the other was new, three times as thick, and an ankle-cut sock.
That sort of thing made someone really cranky by the time they got to work.
Oh, like you could tell the difference anyway.
[OOC: The OCD went the way of the actual sock pairs. I'VE NEVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS, I SWEAR.]

"Lunch?" he asked, holding up one of the many bags he had with him.

"Needed to get out of the kitchen, feel useful. I figure it's good publicity for the Cafe, after all, and the dishes can cover things while I'm gone. I've got sandwiches, lemonade, and homemade ice cream.
Everything but the ice cream is moddable."no subject
oglingspeculatively eyeing what looked like a prosciutto and arugula sandwich on pretzel breadwhich had nothing to do with her player's recent obsession with same honestly, was rather impressed, even if the slowly-drawn-out expletive was the only indication of that. "Think I just went from mildly hungry to starving."This was practically her being nice. Scary, huh?

"You're certainly welcome. Glad to see another well-fed citizen and all that," he told her as he started gathering up the bags again.
There was a pause, though, before he even moved to leave.
"You're well?"
A simple, small question that could be deflected or expanded or anything Katina wanted. He wouldn't bother her with more, but he had to ask.

"Why I do what?"

"Because I'm not worth anything on my own," he said, matter-of-fact, simple as anything. After all, no matter how many times people have told you different, if most of them keep leaving you behind, well... they can't really have meant it, could they?
He gave her a quick nod of 'good-bye' before turning on his heel.
"I'll see you a little later, I'm sure. Take care, Katina. And enjoy the meal."
