It was business as usual this week with the calls from around the island. Someone seemed absolutely sure that the world was going to end in a ball of flames and Tony needed to beg the benevolant spaghetti monster for forgiveness for his transgressions.

...right.

But right now he had more pressing matters of a woman--whom he knew was at least in her sixties--calling him up like this was a horrible softcore porno.

"No, ma'am, I--I understand you have needs, ma'am." A horrified pause. "...that's very kind of you, but I'll have to pass. I'm sure it's a very surprising tart."

He was three minutes from braining himself on the desk.

"No personal calls," Gibbs breezing into the station when his class completed.

Yeah. There was a head slap comin'.

Tony flinched, ducking his head at that. "Sorry boss. Crazy cat lady in town."

"You have a problem with cats?" Gibbs asked taking a seat at his desk and immediately starting in on the paperwork.

"About fifteen cats?" Tony replied. "Yeah, I'd say that was a problem."

"Lonely people do extreme things sometimes, DiNozzo," Gibbs said not looking up from his paperwork. "Does that make them crazy?"

"Boss, there's lonely and there's fifteen cats."

"So that person would be better to have short meaningless relationships so they can stay home and watch Tom Selleck and his talking car?" Gibbs asked.

Tony paused, reaching for the phone. Gibbs didn't know about... Everything that happened. "You're mixing up shows again, boss."

"Hmm. That might mean I really don't care about that show. Don't you think?"

"Right boss!" Hey, give Tony at least five to recover from that.

Reese was working on paperwork when Tony got the call, she was still smirking half an hour later.

"Got anymore interesting calls, DiNozzo?"

"I'm forwarding it to you next time," Tony shot back.

"No shirking responsibility there, special agent."

"I'm sharing, Detective Reese."

"That's alright DiNozzo," Reese drawled, "I can always use the speakerphone function. I know everyone in the station will be delighted to hear all of your crazy cat lady's... 'surprising tart'."

Tony glared. Oh, she was a dead woman come time to order lunch.

"Wait until you get these calls, probie."

"Probie? That what you call rooks, fed?"

"Probationary agent," Tony said, feeling very superior. "And you're newer than me so you're the probie. Probie."

"Not an agent, DiNozzo," Reese reminded, not at all biting. "Not in an agency. Technically, you're still the new agent on the block, probie."

"Don't even start, Probie."

Reese snorted. "Whatever, Probie."

"Probie, get your superior officer a sandwich." Tony used his powers for evil, you know.

Reese just settled back into her chair and smirked. Really, she can keep at this forever.

"Get me coffee too, I'm parched."

"I've been on the job longer." Different cities, mind.

"With your right hand or your left?" Reese remarked, "'Cause that really don't count, probie."

"How long have you been a cop?"

"Been at it when I was as old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth," she answered. It wasn't a zen phrase, but hey. Also, it was vague. She liked vague.

Reese returned with a smart ass grin.

"Get back to work, Probie."

"I'm done with mine, Probie. Maybe I should look through your work, maybe misspelled a few words." She stood and leaned on her desk. "No shame in misspellings, after all, you're still probationary."

She's talking a lot. That's new. Also, it meant she was very bored. It was a good thing DiNozzo was there to annoy. Reese now understands why her partner loved doing it to her.
