Atlas Gym, Tuesday evening

Kyle hadn't actually fought anyone with his lightsaber since he killed Desann a few weeks ago. So he got to the gym a bit before Jaina arrived for their sparring session, just to shake off a little bit of rust.

The fact that his lightsaber was twirling fast enough that spectators might have trouble keeping track of the glowing blade probably said something about what "rust" was for Kyle. Kyle was happy with this.

[OOC: Kyle's here for Jaina, but the gym is open in general and Kyle is around to talk to people before she shows up.]

"Nice move," Kyle said, somersaulting over the kick. He gave a slash while he was upside down for good measure.

Lucky for her that was fairly easy to deflect, and she took a step back to get a bit more distance. "I try."

Kyle settled into his strong style, leaped forward, and brought his lightsaber down in an overhand smash.

Jaina realized she was probably out of her league here, but that had never stopped her, so she parried, wondering what the odds were of her tiring him out.

It wasn't terribly likely. Kyle shifted his grip again as he stepped back from the parry, rushing forward again with a quick slash at Jaina's side.

It might be pretty clear by now that Jaina was good at defense, by the way she kept blocking the swipes, but this time she added her own jab with her lightsaber once she'd blocked.

Kyle rolled under the jab and slashed at her knees. He was sure by this point that she'd be able to defend against that, he just wanted to see how.

It was a tried and true technique: she simply leapt over the weapon with a little assistance from the Force, and added a slash downward as she did.

From his crouch, Kyle rolled backwards into a handspring that put some distance between them. "You're pretty good. You have a good defense, and you manage not to panic when I keep throwing different styles at you. Those two things alone will win you a lot of duels."

"No sense in panicking, it just gets limbs severed," she said, still not relaxing her guard. She was actually breathing more heavily than she was used to, which was a sign to her that she was going to have to step it up to get back in her insane shape.

"That's only if you're lucky," Kyle said, charging forward with a strong underhand slash.

She didn't respond, too busy trying to block one handed mostly because she was at a good angle to do so, trying to catch his leg with her foot to pull him down. She didn't think it'd work, but.

Kyle's footwork was a little too good for that. He sidestepped, spun around, and swung his lightsaber in a large, one-handed arc at Jaina.

Jaina nearly bent over backwards without a problem to avoid that, her arm coming up quickly to catch his lightsaber with hers.

If Kyle were fighting somone for real, he would take this moment to Push his opponent the rest of the way down, followed by a quick downward strike to finish them off.

In a sparring session, he went back to a two-handed grip and started small-'p'-pushing against Jaina's lightsaber to see how she'd get out of this test of strength.

Very simply, by cheating. She flicked her free hand at him to Force push him away, because why waste time, you know?

Kyle hadn't been expecting that. It was enough to knock him to his butt.

He grinned. "You do realize that you just opened the door wide open for Force powers, right?"

"I don't recall saying they were off limits," she pointed out. She was 5'1" and maybe a hundred pounds. She'd gotten really good with Force powers during fights.

"It was a professional courtesy," Kyle said as he got up. "I wasn't going to use the Force until you made me look silly with it."

He held out a hand and motioned towards him, trying to Force Pull Jaina towards him. It was one of his favorite Force tricks. You didn't really know how fun a fight could be until you worked on your Pull to such a degree that you could fling suddenly disarmed stormtroopers - and their rifles - right over your head. Or surprising them by pulling them onto a catwalk with you when they weren't even looking up.

You learned these kinds of things when you made a habit of infiltrating star destroyers.

Okay, suddenly Jaina had the idea that maybe she was screwed here. She rolled her eyes and let herself be pulled, making sure to be ready wheen she got wherever she was going.

Kyle was nice and directed her towards some mats. The only thing that might get bruised from being thrown into those was her ego.

Also used to that sort of thing, Jaina was dropping into a roll pretty much as she hit, meaning she bounced to her feet almost immediately with her weapon still lit. "Nice."

"Thanks," Kyle said. "I usually like to attack while I'm flinging my opponent around, but that might be a little too much in a sparring session."

"Thanks for dropping that piece of information, though," she said, filing that away just in case he decided to try it sometime.

"Hey, maybe you can use it sometime in the future," Kyle said. "Just not against me."
