Pixie Dust, Thursday

Right. Elena had a video to work on, for her Awesome class. She'd need some outfits for that, and luckily, she was in the right place for it. Let's see. She'd need at least one spangly all-out hot evening gown -- red or black, was the question. And a volunteer she could pretend to be escorting, and one she could throw down with, and one to chew on her neck. She should post a sign-up sheet or something.

Pixie Dust was open, and its employee was completely using the shop as her own personal closet today.

Zack wasn't looking for dresses, thank goodness. Though if he had any idea what tomorrow was going to be about, he probably would have been.

... No, no he wouldn't. Cross-dressing was Cloud's job.

But he did need new socks! And so he figured that he might as well check out another business in town that he hadn't swung by, yet.

"Oh, hey Elena! You work here?"

Small world!

One of these days, either Elena was going to get used to Zack actually existing, or Zack was going to get used to Elena freaking out when she saw him.

Probably the second one, huh?

Zack blinked and rubbed the back of his head, raising an eyebrow slightly.

"Money's good," he agreed. "I, uh. I need socks."

Which weren't money, and hopefully weren't panic-worthy, too.

"Just something that goes between my boots and my toes," Zack laughed, shrugging and following along. "ShinRa makes good stuff, sure, but army boots are still pretty rough on the feet."

This was a riveting conversation, wasn't it?

"Plain works fine. Nobody's really going to see them, after all."

That earned a bark of a laugh, and Zack gave his head a shake.

A girl, with a thing for feet? Oh, that would be interesting, wouldn't it?

In fact, he was going to have to open up his mouth to tell Elena that!

Bark!

.... Wait. What?

The dog, who was quite certainly Zack, yes, tucked his tail between his legs and kind of whined.

Nope. Nope, that had totally been an accident. But not the kind of accident that led to rolled-up newspaper. He was housebroken, honest.

Well, someone was going to have to! Who was going to take him for walkies and give him scritches behind the ear and feed him kibbles?

... Or table scraps. He wasn't particularly choosy at this point, so long as there were walkies. That part was pretty important.

Cue the puppyface. He was a master of the puppyface.

Zack was a dirty, rotten, puppyfaced cheater, it was true. But he was the dirty, rotten, puppyfaced cheater who was getting scritchies from a pretty girl, and so whatever it was that he owed her?

Was so totally worth it.

Happy tailwag and tongue-lolling large puppy joy time!

Occasionally, Jenny remembered that she ran a shop now and should probably do managerial things like check up on her employees. Also, she was bored and out of alcohol. "Elena! How's it going?" Jenny asked as she strode into the shop. "Any shoplifters today? New shop policy is to electrocute them. I don't know if I mentioned that before. Taser's under the counter." For those not as genetically blessed as Jenny.

"Then they might bleed on the merchandise, though," Jenny said, her tone suggesting she didn't actually care if they bled on the merchandise and was only saying this for form's sake. She eyed the dress. "Is there a dance coming up no one told me about?"

Jenny eyed Elena critically and said, "Could I suggest something in the 'extremely short' family?"

"Hmm, I see your point," Jenny mused. "It's been far too long since I've had to do this, but I think you're on to something with the high slit. There's always the cleavage option, but it works best for small things."

"Let's hear it for modern couture," Jenny agreed.
