York Gallery [8/13]

Her time on the island was rapidly drawing to a close, something that kept throwing Eve into thoughtful moods at the most random of moments. Like now, when she was going through the reception desk and came up with one of her homework assignments from six months ago.

She stuffed said assignment in her purse and turned back to the computer.

One of her last days playing Oregon Trail at work, woe.

Another day, another employee to check in on.

Sophie stopped by the gallery after a day spent on the Mainland, and smiled at the girl playing working on the computer. "Hello? I don't believe we've met. I'm Sophie Devereaux, the new owner." She cocked her head. "Although you look remarkably like Savannah Levine."

"That'd be because we're related." Eve grinned. "I'm Eve Levine."

To break Sophie with the how of the being related or not to break her... tough choice.

"It's nice to meet you, though I'm sorry I won't be working for you for much longer."

"No? You're leaving the Island, then," Sophie said, walking over to pour herself a glass of iced tea. "Would you like some? Where are you going to be after you leave?"

"I'd love some," Eve replied. "I'll be living in New York, actually. Going to business school and working for a family friend."

Sophie poured her a glass, and placed it on the desk with a click. "That will be lovely, then. When will your last day here be? And which days have you been working?"

"My last day's going to be... uh, whatever's closest to when they kick the graduated ones off the island," Eve said, smiling sheepishly. "I'll find that out for you and let you know tomorrow -- I've been working Thursdays and Fridays."

"No rush," Sophie said with a small smile. "As long as I have enough time to advertise for more help. I'm probably going to be moving into the apartment above the gallery in a week or so. And next Monday my class will be here." She smiled wickedly. "But that's a minor thing to coordinate. Is there anything else you need to know from me, given that you're leaving soon?"
