Theodoric of York: Wednesday afternoon

Layla usually wasn't one for a beauty salon, manicures, pedicures, massages or the like but classes were now over for her and coming from her conversation with Karla the other day it seemed like the thing to do after a busy summer quarter.

She skipped the facial treatment and opted for the hair styling with a mani-pedi package. As she laid back on the chair as the stylists began to work she felt just a tad luxurious.

"Yeah. Okay. I could get use to this."

[Layla and Karla organized a spa day. If you think you would get an invite then you got one. So pretty much open to anyone.]

"There's no shame in enjoying it, darling," Emma called from where she was getting her facial, sprawled out and practically purring from happiness. "A girl deserves to be spoiled sometimes, that's all there is to it."

"Yeah, well when my nail polish flakes off in a couple of days I'll probably question it but right now I'm too distracted by-"

At that point one of the stylists started rubbing her temples.

"Mmmm. That."

"Yes, well, if you care for your hands properly and stop dressing like a color-blind homeless person, it will look nicer for longer. And then you just come in and have them do it again," Emma pointed out. "It's a wonderful system."

"What do you suggest then?" Layla smirked. "That I wear all white and a push-up bra? Not sure how that'll help the nails though."

Dinah wriggled her toes in the footbath, then smiled over at Emma. "Hey. Guess what Karla got me for a present. And you by extension."

Since Emma probably could not hear Dinah at all, due to her little sapphire wonder-bracelet, she'd probably guess right away.

"A pony," Emma announced in a fit of silly. "One with sparkles."

Why go for the obvious answer, when being, well, Emma was so much more fun?

Karla had been glancing over the list of options, but stopped since none of the descriptions made sense anyway. "What are you getting Emma?" she asked, watching the facial. "And what's a 'bikini wax' and why would I want one?"

"Facial, hair cut and highlights, manicure and pedicure, and a makeover," Emma rattled off from her chair. "If I got a massage, I would be a puddle of Emma-goo, and you would never get me out of here again."

"And a wax is a method of removing unsightly hair," she continued. "Faster than shaving, and keeps your skin smoother longer. Unless you've got a special occasion coming up, you don't really need one." Traumatizing Karla at the spa would be bad.

"Amen to that," Elena answered. "If only they served mimosas here, we'd be set."

"Do they serve mimosas?" That would be Emma perking up, yes. "They should. I want a mimosa!"

Karla had made a point of inviting Dinah along, and while it wasn't the same as say flying, Dinah was totally up for that. She was currently in one of the comfy, comfy chairs, getting a pedicure with shiny watermelon nail color, and sighing happily. "This was an awesome, awesome idea, guys. Thanks for thinking of it."

"Last week of school," Layla sighed happily from her chair. "Seemed like a pretty good idea."

"I didn't even know this place was on the Island. So cool." Dinah grinned over at Layla, then asked, "Did you really get bras for all the guys last Friday?"

Because that was kind of hilariously awesome.

"It was all Layla's idea," Karla said, sighing a little. Okay, the scalp massage was a really great idea, even if her face was covered with sticky stuff and there were cucumbers over her eyes. "I don't even know what half this stuff is. I'm willing to admit it was a really good idea, though. I think we're even supposed to get lunch and tea with it, too."

"Ooooo," Dinah said, totally content. "Very, very cool." She grinned over at Karla and said, "I think most of it's organic? Everything you could eat. But not after it's been in your hair." She snickered and asked, "Match my toes and fingers, or different colors?"

Karla had decided to go for the full spa package, considering she'd never done this before. Though she seemed a little dubious now that the women were approaching her to wrap her in mud and seaweed. "This is supposed to do what for me?" she asked.

"Guys? Why am I beaing smeared with things? And--wait, I'm supposed to pick out a color for my toes?!"

"The seaweed and mud are good for your skin," Layla snickered. "And the color thing is supposed to make your feet look pretty."

Layla wiggled her toes as if to emphasize that point.

"Try telling that to the Court," Karla muttered, trying not to feel self-conscious as she stood, half-naked, and began getting plastered in mud and wrapped with seaweed. "Considering the number of times I got in trouble for coming home muddied head to toe."

The rainbow of colors presented to her for her nail selection was almost a bit daunting. "What colors should I pick?" she asked Layla. "What colors did you pick?"

"It's wonderful, isn't it?" Elena sighed. "I really need to come here more often."

Her nails looked amazing.

Dinah was getting hers shaped and buffed, and she grinned over at Elena. "Hi! I'm Dinah. I don't think I've met you yet, although maybe we had a class together?"

Elena tilted her head slightly at that. Dinah? Unless there were two of them, she needed to talk to this girl.

"I think we have a friend in common," she said carefully, considering each word. "Zack?"

"I'm tempted to get a real massage but I'd end up falling asleep on the table and not enjoying it," Layla said looking and feeling relaxed.

"You could ask the masseuse to wake you up," Elena suggested. "Any snoring comes out, someone taps you on the head."

Karla gave a little wave from the pedicure station. She really had gone all out. "Maybe not the beach, but this is fun!" she called. She held up a hand, nails a shimmery dark blue. "Layla's idea, and wasn't it good?"
