Atlas Gym [Wednesday Evening]

With only two days left in Fandom, Veronica had spent most of her day packing her things so she could ship them back to LA before her Disneyland trip.

She needed to get out of her apartment though and decided to head down to the gym for some exercise.

Tyler paused in his weight circuit to raise a hand in a half-wave. "Mars," he said, resetting the pins on a machine. "How you doing?"

It was friendlier than he normally was to her, but you didn't wake up in a vampire's body with someone and not be at least a little polite.

"Durden," Veronica replied, setting her water bottle and towel down next to the elliptical machine. "I'm doing okay. Packing up my apartment. How are you?"

"We're losing you again so soon?" There was some actual disappointment there, which was just weird for Tyler even as he heard it in his own voice. "It feels like you just got back here.Going back to college?"

"Don't sound so disappointed," Veronica said. "It creeps me out. But, yes, I have to go back to LA and finish my last year of school."

And live with her husband.

"Creeps me out, too," Tyler said. "And senior year, huh? Congratulations. Didn't figure you for the married-in-college type."

Which was his way of saying he read his email.

"Neither did I," Veronica admitted. "Well, honestly, I didn't figure myself the married at all type."

"But Dick swept you off your feet?" Tyler said, sniggering a tiny bit at the name. "How'd you get all romantic?"

Veronica shrugged and looked down at the machine. "We were in Vegas and a little carried away."

"And no Britney Spears annulment?" Tyler raised his eyebrows. "Congratulations. Do I owe you a toaster?"

"No, Deadpool has that and the pasta maker covered," Veronica said. "But, no, we're not going to go the annulment route. We've pretty much been together for a year and a half, so..."

"So time to tie the knot?" Tyler tilted his head, trying to see her ring finger. "Seriously, good luck with it."

He'd been with Tony a year and they still couldn't manage the word boyfriend. They were special.

"It's enough that getting an annulment seemed silly," Veronica said. She held her hand out to show off her very cheap gold band.

She would laugh if she knew what Tyler was thinking though, given that she and Dick hadn't admitted they loved each other until their wedding vows.

It was cheaper than Marla's had been. "Hope you get an upgrade before your finger turns green," Tyler said, and went over to the next machine.

"So, uh, you know I'm divorced."

Reese finally decided to give the gym a try, she'd gone through the weights now she was off to the thread mill.

"Hey," Reese said in greeting.

"Hey! How's it going," Veronica asked.

"Good," Reese answered. "You? Gettin' ready for Disney?"

Veronica nodded. "Yup. And packing up my things to move back to LA. So much to do, so little time."

"Luck with that," Reese said, "hitting the gym part of the preparations?"

"More like the 'if I don't get out of the apartment, I'm going to stab things' portion," Veronica admitted.

Reese smiled wryly. "Yeah, I know that feeling. Can't really stay inside for a long time, drives me insane."

Veronica nodded. "Yeah, I'm not the sitting still type at all."

"Yeah, I don't understand how people can do paperwork all day," which was something she's doing in the station now, explains why she keeps running around the park or patrolling the streets.

"I swear that paperwork was created by the devil himself," she said.

"That I'd believe without question."

"And of course the guys I work with back home can't be bothered to ever do it right so I get stuck with most of it."
