Trooper Station, Friday

Yeah. Work. Ray could do work. Sheriff work. Yep.

Ray was sitting in his chair in his office, staring at the mountain of paperwork and trying not to show off the fact he had lead in his shoes. "Right," he muttered, and took a sheet.

Then put it down on his desk.

Went over it. Filled it in. Signed it, stamped it. Done.

Only eleventymillion left to go.

"Fun isn't it?" Reese said dryly, sipping her coffee.

Reese stared at Ray. It was a 'Do you really think I'm going to get you a coffee' stare?

But she did leaned back and hollered, "Ralph, the sheriff wants coffee."

Then she looked at Ray again and drank her coffee.

"Well, my brain didn't leak out of my ears," she told him, "and I met an angel. That was fun."

Reese made a face, "There's more than one. Greaaat. The angel said he was called Castiel and he got a dog that was formerly an FBI agent."

"Well," Reese began, almost reluctant because she has a grudge against the FBI. A really big grudge but... "that one wasn't actually that bad, former Chicago PD, he still looked like a cop unlike the probie."

Reese paused from drinking her coffee.

"I think I met Loki. He swears a lot for an angel."

"Douchebag angel," Reese repeated then shook her head, "Great. As if we don't have a lot of human ones already."

"Well, I never expected that to be literal," she countered. Reese stepped aside to let Ralph by.

She lifted a hand and started ticking off, "Gender bender, animal transformation, aliens, invasions (dead, undead and/or aliens), freak weather, de-aging, vamp-freaking-ires, zombies, ghosts, and kids." Both eyebrows were raised now for confirmation, "Did I miss anything?"

Surprise, surprise, Daisy was knocking a little on Kowalski's doorframe.

"Hullo, sir," she said, "just wanted to take a moment and apologize about Monday; not sure exactly what happened, and it's probably best left unexplained anyway, knowing this place, but I do have good news. Summer's over, I can get back to being on full for Mondays and Wednesdays again."

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-08-21 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Daisy managed not to roll her eyes at the noseboy comment only because she was in uniform and it was a bit of a still ingrained (even after almost a year) habit to respond, "Sniffing, yes, very good, sir. And you know me, the beat's what I like best so no problems there. Can't by any chance still convince you about the roller skates, by chance, can I?"

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-08-21 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"For skating," said Daisy. "That's why they're roller skates. Would make the patrol much more interesting, sir, and I can likely skate faster than I can run, you know."

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-08-21 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, but bloody calling a member of your staff 'noseboy' was?

"They've got cops on Segues now, Sheriff," Daisy countered stoutly. "Officially mandated, too."

Actually, she wasn't even sure if Kowalski would know what a Segue was.

"And there've always been mounted police, and cop cars, and if another step in the grand tradition of utilizing technology to better increase our efficiency isn't professional cop behavior, sir, I might need to go back and refresh myself on what is."

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-08-21 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Or just glide by them quickly so they don't get me and I've a better chance to detain them, sir," Daisy suggested. "Skates can also be removed, too."

Novel idea, that.

"But I get it. No skates."

Yet.

"Just doing my job, sir," said Daisy, since following orders that made you either sigh, roll your eyes, and want to pout was all just par for the course, and, really, Daisy actually, truly couldn't help being good.
