The Gig, [8/21]

After the morning chores were finished, Dani thought she'd take Bold out for some exercise. They hadn't gotten very far on their ride when a teal deer ran out in front of them. While Bold seemed to be the most sensible of horses, today he got spooked and dumped Dani rather unceremoniously on the ground.

If anyone was around The Gig when they got back, they would have seen Dani covered in dust and limping slightly as she led Bold back to the paddock.

Vince slid into The Gig.

"I may have forgotten to come into work on Monday," he said.

"Oops. Want to make it up to me by bringing the horses in from the paddock?" asked Dani, who was still limping. It might have been a good thing. She probably wouldn't make it up the ladder to the hayloft and might actually stay out of trouble.

"...Do you mean actually bringing the horses in, or is that one of those sexy metaphors?" Vince said. "Because I have to say, I think paddock would make it sound like your ladyparts were quite large."

Dani stared at Vince and resolved never to use metaphors with him again. She'd probably forget in about hour.

"I'm talking about the actual horses this time, Vince," she said. "Bold and I had a little run-in with a bluish-looking animal, and we lost."

"...Bluish looking animal?" Vince said.

"It was a blue-green kind of color, almost like teal. And it had four legs with hooves and these little antlers on its head," said Dani, sitting down on a bale of hay and rubbing her swollen ankle. "It just came out of nowhere and startled Bold. Then I ended up getting thrown from the saddle."

"Weird," Vince said. "I've not really ever met up with anything like that. But I can bring the horses in, no problem. I'll just play them a little Numan."

"That would be great," said Dani. "Oh, hey, I talked to the guy at the hardware store to ask about building an extra paddock and a smaller enclosure for the goats. The little ones keep wandering off whenever I'm distracted."

"They are quite the rapscallions, aren't they?" Vince said. "We should get a bridge, and troll, to keep them in line."

"The fence might be easier," said Dani, raising an eyebrow. "Plus I want to get that hot guy at the hardware store to do some home renovation for me."

"I don't think I've met him," Vince said. "I'd remember a hot guy at the hardware store."

"Well, he didn't quite seem to be your type," said Dani. "I could be wrong, though."

"...my type?" Vince said.

"Actually, I'm not quite sure what your type is, now that I think about it," said Dani.

"I like most everyone," Vince said. "Some people just don't do it for me, I admit."

"But you do like pretty girls? Or maybe just the rich ones," suggested Dani. She wouldn't be disappointed, but she hoped that Vince wasn't just interested in her for her father's money.

"...Do I know any rich girls?" Vince said, thinking.

Yeah, she could be happy with that answer.

"You know me, at least. Not that I'm all that rich at the moment, but I could be if I sold everything, or if my dad had another heart attack and didn't leave everything to my brother again," said Dani.

"I mean, I don't see the point in liking someone for their money," Vince said. "I like people because of their personalities. And their breasts. And their faces. That sort of thing."

"Hmmm. What is is you like about me, then?" asked Dani.

Vince thought for a second. "You don't really tax me at all," he said. "And you're very easy on the eyes. And wear great clothes."

"And?" asked Dani, smiling.

"And you do have a magnificent body," Vince said.

"Now that's what I wanted to hear," said Dani, grinning.

"Well, I'm glad for that," Vince said.

"Oh, and I don't think your ladyparts are large, just to make that clear."

"I'm really glad to hear you say that," said Dani.

"They're really a good size, actually," Vince said.
