Biff, in honor of the start of the school year had posted a sign:

SPECIAL SALE ON WEAPONS: 300 PERCENT MARK-UP

He felt quite pleased with himself, especially since he was never going to sell anything anyway.

The Wellspring Arms was open!

As Jim was walking through town to get a feel for the place, he came across that sign. Okay, sure, his teaching buddy was a big guy who destroyed classrooms, but a weapons store? He gave the camera an intrigued look before heading inside.

"Good afternoon," Jim said. "I'm interested in buying a weapon."

"Then you have come to the wrong place," Biff said with a grin. "You must be new."

"I am, actually," Jim said with a confused look on his face. He really needed to get the hang of this place before trying to set up silly jokes. "This is a weapon store, right?"

"Well, yes," Biff replied. "But we don't sell anything. It's more like a free weapons museum."

"Oh. I was actually going to ask if you had any pointy sticks," Jim said. "I know that I can find them on the ground anwhere, but those haven't been tested for safety. I wanted to get a name brand stick."

Biff burst out laughing. "You need a designer stick, huh? I think Ralph Lauren might've put some out in his fall collection. And Chuck Norris, but his are more expensive."

"His also have moss on them for that rugged bearded look," Jim said. "That's a little too fancy for me."

"So you want a streamlined pointy stick," Biff said. "How big a stick? Are you looking to use it to slay vampires or to shake at young people from your porch?"

"Oh, the porch, as soon as I have one," Jim said. "Some people might find a place with a porch first and then get the stick, but that's a mistake. You miss out on a lot of shaking practice doing it that way."

"And if you miss out on stick shaking time, you can just look ridiculous," Biff said wisely. "I have a porch. Don't suppose you'd be interested in taking the last room in the house, too?"

"That's an actual room, not just a couch, right?" Jim asked. He just wanted to be sure.

"Actual room," Biff assured him. "It's currently holding my hat collection, but for such an expert stick shaker, I can move them. I'm Biff."

"And who wouldn't want to live in a former hat room?" Jim asked. "I think I want that room even more now. I'm Jim."

"Nice to meet you, Jim," Biff said easily. "Are you teaching at the school, or just here for the amazing sticks?"

"Can't it be both?" Jim asked. "I'm going to be teaching a history class. It should be... interesting."

"Definitely," Biff said. "What part of history do you come from?"

Jim hadn't really received a full rundown on Fandom yet. And that's why his response was a slightly confused look and answering, "Originally the 70s, but I was very young then."

"The 1970s?" Biff checked. "These things matter around here."

"Would you believe the 1870's?" Jim joked.

Biff laughed. "It'd make the search for a big pointy stick make more sense."

"Well, I like to plan out my lies so they all work well together like that," Jim said.

"Then I'm definitely going to like having you around," Biff said. "Bad liars are very annoying."

"Do you really mean that?" Jim questioned.

Because he was being a smartass clever.

"If I'm doing this right, you'll never know," Biff replied, grinning.

There was a reason the Buddhist monks found him incredibly annoying to have around. He wasn't good for staying Zen.

"Good answer," Jim said. "When can I move in?"

"I'm off work in a few hours," Biff offered. "You can come over then."

"Three hundred percent mark up? What a deal, and I'm in the market for a new pistol, too!"

Daisy liked commenting on signs, okay?

Biff laughed. "For you, I'll only charge twice as much as its worth," he teased.

"Come on, now, Biff," said Daisy. "That's hardly fair. It should be at least four times as much."

"Well, if you insist," Biff said, eyes sparkling. "How was your week, Daisy?"

"It was good," said Daisy, smiling happily, because it was nice. "Back to full time at the station, although no fight club tonight makes me alittle sad. Might have to find other ways to work out my aggressions."

He waggled his eyebrows at her. "I can come up with suggestions."

"Oh, can you?" asked Daisy with an innocent tone. "I'd have never had guessed, Biff."

"Hello!" Biff said cheerfully. "Long time, no see."

"Yeah, long time," she said faintly.
