Trooper Station; Monday [ 08/31 ].

Not only was Daisy back to full time at the station, which was just such a relief, but she had an awful lot of nice things from yesterday fueling her, as well as plenty of actual substantial work to do. There was a pretty heavy radio load to transcribe, and a good handful of new citizens on the island with the new semester to be entered into the computer.

And, of course, Daisy could have entered them all in manually, but what was the fun in that? She was happily trying to set up a few macros that would not only make the task incredibly fun and easy, but probably confuse just about everyone else she worked with.

Except maybe Ralph. He was a quick one.

[[ Um, so my playlist started playing Back in the Saddle when I started this post. This is awesome, y/y? Open station is open, but the Brit will be sloooooooow due to a case of RL; however, SP will be cherished greatly ]]

Dinah had an Idea. Possibly from talking to Jaime, or just stewing about it long-term; either way, the best person to talk about it with was Detective Constable Day. Not Daisy. This was Work.

"Detective-Constable? When you've got a moment, I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions." Dinah paused. "Well, maybe it should wait 'til your break. It might be more than a few."

Dinah frowned, then blinked, and shook her head. "It's not trouble, it's research." She pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, feeling a little embarrassed at having worried the policewoman; maybe this would have been better in an e-mail. "You see, I want to be a private investigator, after I graduate this year. But half the websites and books I read contradict each other about the best way to go about it, or how long it takes, and I-- well. I was hoping you could give me a few pointers." She turned red. "That's all. It's not urgent."

Dinah nodded enthusiastically. "I know that working here probably wouldn't be a good idea," not least because she didn't want to feel obligated to arrest Chuck Bass for possession the next time she saw him, "but I was hoping, well. You could point me to some things I'd definitely need to learn? I already know how to fight, but I know that can't be all of it." And way too much of the work in New Gotham was just Barbara doing her magic on a computer.

Or sending them to steal lung tissue from the morgue. Ecch.

"That'd be fine, really. Maybe at the Perk, some afternoon?" Dinah asked, looking hopeful. "And I guess I'll come up with more specific questions for then, and if you just have some recommended courses, on-line or otherwise. They're not offering anything like Criminal Justice or Investigations again this semester, which is too bad."

"Awesome!" Dinah grinned and nodded. "Thanks, Detective-Constable. I don't have any classes on Fridays, so that works out fine." She grinned. "I love coffee."

Yeah, who would've guessed?

"Excellent."

[or Saturday, which works better for me IC too! Perhaps she had to go arrest a small giraffe?]

"That works," Dinah said cheerfully. "I don't have any plans anyway. And it'll give me more time to think of questions." She smiled. "I don't want to cut into Ralph's training, he's on the job."

[Llamaaaaaaa!]
