Vince's work today mainly consisted of playing Gary Numan for all the animals and dancing.

He was a real hard worker, that Mr. Noir.

Today, it was Dani's day to stop by on a day when she wasn't working. She stopped short as she entered the barn. "Vince? What are you doing?" she asked.

"Entertaining the animals," Vince said. "What else does it look like?"

He was still dancing.

Dani shrugged and looked at the horses, who appeared to be casually eating their feed and ignoring Vince's moves. Only the little colt seemed to be paying much attention. Then again, everything was new to him.

"I was going to take Smudge out for a ride, if it doesn't ruin your little performance," said Dani.

"Well, that depends," Vince said. "Is Smudge the only thing you plan on riding today?"

Apparently, Vince and Dani couldn't have a conversation without innuendo.

They couldn't. It was impossible for either of them, apparently.

"Maybe later, Vince," said Dani. "Right now I've got another kind of exercise in mind than what you're thinking. Is Smudge outside in the paddock?"

Because if Dani had actually listened to her voicemail messages and her player had been thinking, she would have heard the one from Gwynn about Smudge being missing since Saturday.

"...Maybe?" Vince said.

He'd been too busy dancing to check in on all the animals.

Dani ran outside to check, but no, there was no sign of Smudge in the paddock. She came back inside and gave Vince a stern look. "I don't suppose you did a head count of the animals when you came in?" she asked.

"None of them seemed to be missing a head," Vince said. "I think I would've noticed that."

Dani sighed and started to get Duke saddled up. "Vince, sweetie, you're really lucky that you're very good in bed. Otherwise, I may have had to fire you," she said, ignoring the fact she kept him around because she needed his money. "Think you can keep an eye on the place while Duke and I go looking for Smudge?"

"You're going on an adventure without me?" Vince said. That almost seemed a crime.

Dani hesitated. "Do you know how to ride, Vince? And I mean ride a horse, not some euphemism for sex."

"Of course I do," Vince said. "I'm a rhinestone cowboy."

Dani had a feeling that this would end very badly, but then again, two people on horseback could cover a lot more area in a short amount of time.

"Then it's time to saddle up. You do know how to saddle a horse, right?" asked Dani, pulling out an extra saddle and tack for Kally.

Vince was, in fact, quite competent at saddling a horse. He seemed to be talking the horse into staying calm for it all. Because that was exactly what he was doing.

"You're impressed, aren't you," he boasted. "Go on, say it."

Well, he probably wouldn't have Matt Ritter's tracking skills, but at least Vince wouldn't fall off the horse.

"Not bad," said Dani. "Are you ready to head out there and find Smudge?"

"Absolutely!" Vince said.

His tracking skills would consist of shouting 'Here Smudge! C'mere Smudge!' and the like.

"And we'd probably better split up while we're searching," added Dani. There would be less face-palming that way.

"Right. Then we can hook up later and compare notes," Vince said.

"But not the kind of hooking up we normally do," cautioned Dani.

"I meant comparing notes about the search," Vince said. "What were you thinking?"

"…never mind what I thought," said Dani, frowning. "We need to get out there. Poor Smudge is probably lost and hungry."

"...I wasn't calling you a ho, by the way," he stressed. "It's just a saying."
