The Perk, Sunday Afternoon

As it seemed there would be nothing out of the ordinary raining down from the skies or popping out of closets today, Kate had ventured out of the dorms and into town, where she’d headed straight for the Perk.

The person behind the counter gave her a slightly frightened look when she came to order coffee. The staff wasn’t going to forget how they’d once tried to tell her they wouldn’t serve her any more. She had nearly had to wrestle one of them for that gigantic takeaway cup.

This time, however, she was a much more pleasant customer, and got what she wanted without any fighting. She then took a seat by a table near the door, so she could watch the people coming in while she sipped on her coffee.

Jack was having a bit of a sluggish day, so he had the notion that coffee would help make him awake-er. Couldn't hurt, right?

He waved at Kate, coffee in hand. Mmmmmmcoffeeeeeee...

"Well, this is all in different languages and stuff, so it must be better, right?" he answered, all caffeine and smile.

Oh, Jack. Logic.

"This stuff hasn't been sitting in the pot for the past two days, either," he said. "I mean, I like strong coffee, but not when it tries to drink me."

"Ugh. Right. Last thing this place needs is coffee that can organize and hates being stuck in cups.

[This needs to be the next WTF day, if not an Invasion.]

"We'd have to fight back, with...with water or tea. Or maybe soda. Diet non-caffinated versions of the real thing." Which may be the only reason that it existed.

"Tea is good," he said, sipping coffee. "It has its place, like coffee. And it's decent when mixed with coffee."

Because everyone poured coffee into a half-drunk-tea mug because they were too lazy to wash cups.

"It was...an experiment," he said. Which was true, sort of.

"Well, not really," he said. "I only had one cup, and it already had tea in it..." He shrugged.

[Work tiemz. SP?]

"Sometimes lazy is an experiment," he protested.

[I leave for the RenFest in 6 hours, so mega-slowplay unless you want to wrap up]
