Magic Box, Thursday, 9/10
Leaving the kitten at home this week, Tara rushed to the Magic Box after class to get the store open on time.
She might have overdone the "rushing" thing a tiny bit, since she slipped on a wet patch near the door, tripped over the hem of her skirt, and fell across the threshold in a truly spectacular pratfall that left her with a badly skinned knee.
Whimpering (and hoping no one had noticed), she went to find the first-aid kit to patch her knee up.
The Magic Box was open. The girl working there was limping a little.

in a handwavey manner because I am too lazy to do research. "But the most common kind is, uh, vampires, like over on the other island."no subject

"Hello?" she said, stepping inside and looking around.

Chakra could look like magic, but Ino was pretty sure it wasn't the same and Reno was an entirely different matter what with his magic being materia...
...why were there so many types of magic anyway? Who thought up that bright idea?

She leaned forward on the counter. "I don't know if the second kind would work for somebody from a world with no magic at all."
no subject
Ino tapped her fingers on the counter. "I was thinking something that'd maybe help purify the ground? Help things grow? Or keep things--hydrated, that's a problem too. Their planet is pretty... dead, in a lot of places. It might not work, even if the charm can do that, but it's worth a try to help, I think."

She was already thinking about what was in the spellbooks she knew well.

"I would love to see his face if I told him that," no, really, she totally would, "but gotcha, that makes sense."
Even if the word sort of made her want to laugh more. Ah well.
"You can do it?" A beat. "Like, if it takes a little while that's totally good with me, but that's excellent to hear."
no subject
Thoughtfully, she added, "Could I bring it by your dorm room sometime this weekend? Probably it would look like a bag of dust and herbs."
no subject
A beat.
"Totally stop by my room--" wait, "Um, sorry?" Ino laughed. "I'm Ino, by the way, and I live up in 504. I'm good at any point this weekend but for Saturday during the day. I've got work then."
[Back in an hour!]

She brushed her hair out of her face. "Oh, right. Names are good. I'm Tara and I'm in 223. I'll look for you Sunday night
possibly handwavily depending on how the day goes?"no subject
"Sunday'll be totally good
whether it be handwavy or not!, though. Is there anything you, like, need from me now for it?" Down payment?no subject
She shook her head at the question. "Nah. This is fun for me. I'll ask you to cover the ingredients once it's made."

[*EYES PING* It appeared in my inbox when you left it, but absolutely would not appear on my screen even when I switched computers. Weiiiird.]

Dooooooooork.
"And I like that I'll help feed people."
She bit a lip, wondering if that was enough.
[WEIRD!]

"Good answer," she said approvingly, and idly pushed herself away from the counter to spin around once. "I'll leave off pestering you for more of them then." Toootally teasing, and obviously so. No one (except Naruto, perhaps) made it through seven years at the Academy in the same class as Hinata and never figured out how to deal with someone who was shy. "I'll see you Sunday, then."
