She's here. Rocking the shoe aisle.

"You know the bottom line is," Layla said walking into the aisle, "You can't beat a great pair of Chuck Taylors."

"No, thanks," Elena laughed. "If I'm working, I want better arch support, and if I'm not, then I'm a Jimmy Choo girl."

Layla shrugged. "When I work I'm usually just standing around. Or running and I can do that in any shoes," she replied looking at some of the prettier ones. "And I don't think I could pull off a Jimmy Choo at all."

They're all strappy and shiny, and the heel's thick enough that it wouldn't be too bad, if you had to haul ass."

Layla just sort of boggled at the heel. "And in a pinch I could use it to bash someone's head in."

"See?" Elena grinned. "You look fabulous and you have a weapon strapped on to your foot. What's not to love?"

"My back if I walk around on my tiptoes for an hour," Layla joked. "Isn't there a stylish flat?"

"Of course there are stylish flats," Elena smirked. "Let's see. "I like the black ones," Layla said trying them on. "Though I don't think they go with my thrift store look I usually go with."

"That just means you need new clothes," Elena said. "Or you save them for a special occasion, wear them to ... what is it, prom? Something like that."

"Homecoming is the next one. School-wise," she said pointing the toe and looking at them on her feet. "I haven't thought much about it. Or getting a dress for it. And... I don't really see myself as wearing anything fancy."

"No?" Elena frowned slightly at that. "You don't think you're coming? It'll be fun. Wear something cute, pick up hot guys, you know."

"Not sure yet," Layla admitted. "There's still a good bit of time between now and homecoming. A lot of different things can happen."

"I thought you knew stuff," she teased, lightly. "Look, if I can help, let me know, okay?"

"Will do!"

Yuffie had no idea what she was doing in the shop, other than she needed some new clothes (according to some) and this was the only place in town she thought of when she went.

She never expected to find Elena drooling over shoes. "What is so interesting about shoes?"

"Are you kidding?" Elena asked, staring at the other girl. "Look at these."

"These" were a pair of black satin T-strap sandals (http://www.bluefly.com/Giuseppe-Zanotti-black-satin-jeweled-t-strap-sandals/cat400090/301521001/detail.fly). Expensive ones.

"They just scream, 'I'm sexy, I'm confident, I'm successful, and you wish you had these shoes.'"

Yuffie just stared at them for a moment and then blinked at Elena. "I'd fall on my face."

Because she totally would. But then again, it would put her a little higher up so that she could smack certain people.

"Not with a thick enough heel, or a lot of practice," Elena suggested. "You could go for platform wedges, to start. Like ... oooh, these (http://www.bluefly.com/Prada-black-patent-leather-ankle-strap-wedges/cat400120/303655801/detail.fly) are cute."

She dangled them, invitingly. "No face-falling, guaranteed."

"Well..." Yuffie looked rather dubiously at them. "Okay, but what do I wear them with?"

The girl wasn't a girly girl.

"Something black," Elena decided. "Maybe something chic and slinky? But it's a fun sort of shoe. You'd need ... more of a ruffly skirt. These shoes are too playful for a sheath cocktail dress."

Yes, Elena was wandering off to the dresses, now. Because shoes this cute needed a dress.

Yuffie had a feeling that she was going to be walking out of here with those shoes and whatever dress Elena handed her. Which, was a good thing, the handing over of the dress, because Yuffie tended to just pick whatever fit.

"Um, I need some things besides the dress and shoes too." What better to get her clothes than to have someone else pick them out?

"Tell me what you think of this (http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3054693/0~2376776~2374327~2374331~6014148?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6014148&P=1)," Elena said, pulling a dress out and holding it up in front of Yuffie. "Be brutal, I mean, it's you that's gonna wear it, not me."

She raised an eyebrow at the rest of it. "Yeah?" she said. "What kind of stuff? General wardrobe, everyday gear, fancy?"

"I like it." Which, she did. "Question is, is it me? And yeah, general everyday stuff."

"You have to try it on, so we can tell," she said, offering the hanger. "Would you rather do something colorful? We could get something summery, just make sure it has some black accents in it."

For the rest, she was grinning. "Okay," she said. "How stylish are we going? Plain, like, jeans and nice tops? Fancier? Coordinated? Is there a price range I should know about?"

"I'll try it on, but the plain black is okay. I don't have to worry too much about accessories that way, right?"

Yuffie's eyes were starting to cross a bit. This is why she just grabbed things that fit off the rack. "Plain? Unless there is something you think I should have. And price..." She pulled a bag from her pocket, there was close to 200 gil inside. "That's my allowance for the month, so I'm good. I heard the exchange rate was pretty decent."

"It is," Elena grinned. "And I get a good discount, anyway. We can have you in some hot threads in no time. Talk to me about color. Bright? Low-key? We'll stick to stuff that doesn't need to be ironed or dry-cleaned or any of that shit."

"A mix? Apparently a girl can't live in muted colors all the time," Yuffie said dryly. "You realize, you'll probably get a reward from my father if I end up dressing like a proper girl."

"I never said anything about 'proper,'" Elena said, with a bit of a wicked grin. "Trust me, we'll avoid the frou-frou girly crap. We'll stick with 'functional, but still makes you look way hot.'"
