The Perk, Friday Evening

Addison, a steaming latte and her laptop in front of her, was trying to write an email. Something that could encapsulate her new home without making her sound crazy.

In the end, she sighed in disgust, closed her laptop, and pulled out a trashy romance novel to read instead.

[It's about time I got her out and about. Post is open, of course, for all your Addison and/or Perk-ly needs!]

Alex wasn't sure if he'd ever been in here despite four months on the island. Griff tended to rave about the place so on his way back to the dorms, he stopped in just to see what they had.

He breezed in, glancing around briefly before heading to the counter to see if they had something that wasn't coffee. Or healthy.

Hearing is last name said that loudly was enough to have Alex twisting around and locating the source. He...didn't recognize her but she knew his name.

"Breathing," he said flippantly, making a face. "That okay with you?"

"Seattle what?" he repeated, giving her a look that clearly said he thought she was off her nut. "You been hitting the bottle or something, lady? You're speaking gibberish."

"I don't work at a goddamn hospital," he said, continuing with the 'you are insane' looks. "Look lady, you're hot and all but I don't even know you."

"You know my last name," he pointed out, getting back to that know that she wasn't thinking he was some twit in scrubs. "I don't have relatives."

Irulan felt a bracing walk around town needed evening coffee to cap it off. She ordered a cup and turned and took the table near the woman. "Good evening."

"I would imagine," Irulan answered with a smile of her own. "Fandom excels in making everything interesting."

Irulan chuckled, "Yes, some of the things here are have to be experienced to believe. I'm Princess Irulan Corrino-Atreides, but please call me Irulan."

"Imperial," she confirmed. "I own the local hat shop, the Imperial Brim. It's something to do on my sabbatical."

Or retirement, she hadn't decided which yet.

Sophie stopped in to get some coffee (before going to Turtle & Canary to buy a new one, blast the little blue somethings) and noted the other woman's reading material with amusement as she waited. "Is the WiFi down, or is the story that engrossing?" she asked idly.

Sophie took her coffee, considered, and said, "Why not?" before sliding into the chair across from Addison. "Sophie Devereaux. I own the art gallery over on 4th. You're new to the Island, I take it?"

"It's easy to become a hermit here," Sophie said, thinking of Geoffrey. "Especially if you're not connected to the school in any way." She took a sip of her coffee and smiled. "I take it you didn't know how to explain syrup rain, or random attacks of little blue men?"

"Sadly, no. One could take innumerable little pills and the tiny men still would've run off with your coffee maker. Hypothetically speaking," Sophie said, lips quirking. "When did you first notice this wasn't exactly a standard place to practice medicine?"
