Atlas Gym - Saturday Afternoon
The gym wasn't empty when Rose (still in a bad mood) showed up for her afternoon training session, but it was empty of Dimitri. She checked the clock to make sure she hadn't shown up too early or late then started to check through the gym to make sure this wasn't some sort of ambush-y training exercise.
Huh. One missing teacher. Maybe he had family show up. And if he did, Rose so wanted to meet them. She wasn't going to give up on her training though and be accused of slacking off by her mother so she started working the bag. Possibly picturing a certain redhead's face on it as she did.

Talk to Rose
Re: Talk to Rose
Except that the diminutive figure in the gym was her daughter, and not the other Guardian. Of course not, that would be too easy.
Still, Janine leaned against a wall, content to watch Rose for now. She could get Belikov's opinion later.
Re: Talk to Rose
As it was, she had more than enough situational awareness to note the new person in gym. She gave the bag a last hard punch before steadying it and turning towards her mother. Keeping punching would have been so much easier.
"Did you want something?" She was so gracious.
Re: Talk to Rose
"Watch your tone," she sighed. "You might behave like you have no manners, but at least try not to sound so sullen."
Re: Talk to Rose
"I'm not sounding sullen," Rose said. Yes, she was. "Did you come down here to tell me that?"
Re: Talk to Rose
Instead she grabbed some of the training mitts and tossed them at Rose. "Be quiet and put those on."
Re: Talk to Rose
"What, are you going to run the training session today?"
Re: Talk to Rose
"Yes," she replied. "If Guardian Belikov is indisposed, we'll do basic offensive and defensive parrying using the lines."
Re: Talk to Rose
She couldn't help looking at the molnija marks on the back of Janine's neck. Not many living guardians had so many.

Janine leapt at her, swinging. "As you seem so fond of telling me, I haven't seen you work, or know what you can do. So show me."
Re: Talk to Rose
"Hey, I'm just telling the truth," she said, scrambling back and just barely staying within the lines.

She conceded the pointed. "I just have a unique style of communication."
Re: Talk to Rose
"Better, actually." Another hit. "Point. I could have sent you off to live with my cousins. Is that what you wanted, to be a blood whore?"
Re: Talk to Rose
Rose tried to catch her breath. Her mom shouldn't be able to kick her ass this easily, and she finally tried to throw her own side kick back. "How d'you know they're all like that? Maybe it's just crap."

"That," she said tightly, "is something you know absolutely nothing about. Point."

Shit, in the midst of being so cocky at cornering her mom, Rose forgot where her feet were going. She was too close to the red lines, and she wasn't giving Janine another point for going outside of them. She scrambled to keep herself within them and avoid the next strike at the same time.
Re: Talk to Rose
Oh god. No.
"Rose?"
Re: Talk to Rose
And she was outside of the lines. Dammit.
Pain cracked through the back of her head as her vision went weirdly blurred and sparkly, and Rose couldn't quite raise a hand to rub at her eyes.
"Fuck, ow."
Re: Talk to Rose
She turned her head to look over her shoulder. "Someone get the first aid kit and an ice pack!" she called.
Re: Talk to Rose
Yes, that had been the point of sparring, but it wasn't what she meant.
Finally she got her hands up to rub at her face and started to try to sit up.
Re: Talk to Rose
"Don't sit up, Rose! Wait for the ice!"
Re: Talk to Rose
Okay, maybe she should have listened.

"And I'm not dramatic."
Because now was a good time to whine about it.
Work Out
Re: Work Out
He pulled his shirt off and rolled his shoulders, trying to relax that tension there. Yeah. Definitely needed to hit things.
