The Perk, Early Monday Morning

It had been over a week since Kate had had a decent cup of hot chocolate. This had to be remedied first thing in the morning, so she headed to the Perk for breakfast before religion class.

She smirked at the waitstaff as she made her order, and they looked at her like they thought she’d hit her head. That made her chuckle; it was familiar and vaguely comforting, in a weird way. Vacationing was awesome, but it was pretty good to be home, too.

...And now Kate would spend her morning at a good people-watching table, sipping hot chocolate, eating a ridiculous pastry, and boggling over the fact that she just thought of Fandom as home.

Dating a guy in Australia demanded a lot of late hours which, in turn, demanded a lot of caffeine, so Tony trudged into the Perk to fill up on coffee and try not to sleep the whole day away. He got his cup and sat down at a nearby table, only to realize after a moment (and a few sips of coffee) that someone was already sitting at that table. "Er. Hi. Sorry."

Kate had watched him come in and order his coffee, and she was surprised, to say the least, to see him take a seat by her table. Way to pay attention to your surroundings, random guy.

"Hi," she replied with an amused smirk. She'd seen him at play rehearsals, and knew he was the stage manager, and Dinah had told her his name, which was... "Tony, right?"

"Hi, uh, Kate," Tony said. "Sorry. Up late. I'm seeing this guy in Australia. Uh. Anyway. How's it going?"

Kate leaned back in her chair and raised her mug, still a little amused. "Pretty awesome. I have hot chocolate and a pastry, and I'm back from a fun trip. Did you have a good break?"

"Yeah," Tony said. "I mean, I mostly stayed up late and slept during the days, but that's what break time's for."

"Amen to that," Kate smirked. "I climbed a tree, though, which may have been a little too active for a break thing. But at least it wasn't rafting."

"Got something against water?" Tony smiled.

Kate chuckled. "I can handle water. I just prefer it in a pool or a hot tub."
