Cabot and Associates - Tuesday, 10/20
Fiona had a lot on her mind, so she decided that she'd go light on the research and focus on handling the phonecalls and the filing work. She also decided to clean the office a little, if only because cleaning was familiar and numbingly mindless.
It did make her think of her brother, though. And the arrangement she'd started with Professor Maximus. Which just had her working harder.
I can't tell him about this.
And that was, quite probably, the worst part.

However, if she was in town anyhow and had a question, she was not too shy to drop in at the law firm. "Hi," she said quietly, and immediately got distracted looking around at Ms. Cabot's diplomas and the other pictures on the walls.

"Hey. What's up?"

"No, I'm fine. Thanks for asking, though."
Then--
"Oh! Kitty litter. Or are you getting kitty litter?"

"Sorry. I used to do a lot of cleaning, so I think of that stuff. We're good on food, though, right?"

She kind of thought Fiona was mildly anorexic or the like. It wasn't something she'd ask about.

"Catfood. I don't eat unless it's a social thing."
...yeah, Fiona wasn't really helping that 'anorexic' thing.
"But thanks for asking."

And so the 'anorexic' misunderstanding continued. (In Tara's defense, on the spectrum of the many weird ways teenage girls were about eating, "I don't eat unless it's a social thing" was ... not that weird.)
"Did you come on the trip?" she asked, changing topics. "I didn't see you all week."
no subject
"Um, yeah. I was on the trip. I just kind of stayed to myself most of it," and no, she wasn't looking Tara in the eye on this.
no subject
"Did you at least enjoy not dealing with people?"
no subject
"Kind of. I mean, not really, but..."
It'd been best to stay to herself since she was still kind of figuring out how to deal with the news from the other weekend, but she hadn't enjoyed it, really.
"It was a good trip. I liked the resort. And everyone seemed to have a lot of fun."

She gave a tiny smile. "So I'll see you back in the room?" Shopping to do, and all...
no subject
"And if there's anything you forget, just give me a call and I'll pick it up on the way back to the dorms."
