Fight Club, Atlas Gym, Sunday Night

"Most of you know what this is," Tyler said, with the odd glance to Ghanima as she arranged safety equipment at the back of the gym. "For the rest of you -- we hit each other. Two to a fight, no powers unless everyone agrees, go until someone says stop."

"Any questions, we're here. Otherwise, go for it."

She was laughing as she hugged Ghanima back. "I was beginning to think I wouldn't get a chance to see you. What other life skills do you offer?"

"How to play well with others. With extreme prejudice," Ghanima quipped merrily. "Oh, and there's the occasional academic class, but no one cares about that."

"Teenagers and academics," Aly said thoughtfully. "Yeah, no way that actually sticks. It's been a year, but I remember that much."

"It's been a year; when are you coming back?" Ghanima asked, pouting at her slightly. "I've been here, alone, with my younger twin brother as a student. Do you know the headaches that causes with my timeline?"

"Hey, I was here with my parents as students," she teased. "Without my da knowing he was yet. Timeline induced headaches are totally part of the fun."

She shrugged. "It's wrong to be slightly bored at home, right? I wouldn't mind coming back."

"My stepmother has hence arrived, as well," Ghanima sighed. "Although the worst part isn't the timeline headaches; it's knowing how to balance being an adult and a teacher, and being his sister."

"And yes, dear one. Being bored at home isn't a good use of your skills. Which means you should come team-teach with me. With our talents combined, we might manage to make the students cringe in fear."

Aly nodded, glancing around the gym at the group in the gym. "I was always afraid my brother would end up here while I was a teacher," she admitted then winked at Ghani. "Lucked out that you got that instead."

"Might? I'm hurt honestly. It's only been a year."

"Exactly. The best way to stay in practice is to do, and you have not been traumatizing any children lately," she teased. "Hopefully your knife-edge is sharper than your teaching skills."

"That a challenge, my friend?" Aly asked, flipping a knife through her fingers. "And someone has to teach my pack. Maybe they're not high schoolers, but they don't do badly keeping me sharp."

"Would I challenge you?" That was totally a yes. "And you ought to let me play with your pack sometime. Just to keep them on their toes."

"I do know you," she reminded her, raising an eyebrow. "I'd be thrilled to have you. They're starting to think they know everything." Which wasn't to say that Aly didn't prove them wrong as often as possible. "After I can show you the Isles if you don't mind the whole boat part."

"I will have you know that I've learned how to swim," Ghanima informed her primly. "Are you shocked?"

"Dreadfully," Aly agreed. "But do you do it on purpose or is this a Girl Scout thing?"

Ghanima looked at her blankly. "What is a Girl Scout?"

And Aly was laughing. "An organization of girls in the US. Their motto's be prepared." She made a face. "They'd be a lot cooler if they let the girls learn to use guns instead of earn cooking badges."

Someone was still bitter from summers spent with her cousins.

"Guns." Ghanima wrinkled her nose in disgust. Oh, she could use a gun, she simply didn't like them. "While I can't argue with the motto, it seems rather silly. Do they at least teach them how to use a knife properly?"

"If by properly, you mean 'do they teach them how to pare vegetables? Then yes."

"Proper use of kitchen knives is useful and ought to be taught to everyone, but that's not what I meant," she laughed. "Do they even learn how to skin a rabbit?"
