Caritas | Monday

Tino was trying to clean up after the weekend and he was doing so all alone. This did not surprise him in the least. When he tried to get Adrian to help even though he knew better, he was met with, "We can't change this dynamic we have going on here. The squirrels wouldn't know what to do with themselves," and then he poured himself another drink.

Tino had no idea what that was supposed to mean since he didn't think the squirrels gave a damn what their dynamic was.

Mina sat at the bar and smiled. "Good evening, sir," she said.

So do we!

"You've returned... sans work?" he asked, looking over the bar to see if she'd brought anything with her.

Mary decided to celebrate another successful Homecoming weekend by hitting the bar for a drink, or at least the strongest thing she could drink.

"I'd like a club soda with a dash of lime, please," she said, taking a seat at the bar.

"Indeed," Mina said. "I have not brought a thing with me other than my own self."

"Big deal or not," Rose told Elena as they made their way into Caritas. "It's an excuse for someone to buy you alcohol and have cake."

She looked for the bartender and dammit, it was Monday, wasn't it. Why did she always end up in Caritas nights when Adrian was working? "Hey Adrian. Making Tino do your job again?"

"Little dhampir! Always good to have you back visiting me. I'm doing my job, talking with the customers and making them want to come back," Adrian told her. "Like so."

Adrian didn't even have to look back or order Tino to make the drink before Tino had sighed and started doing it anyway. "I have him trained," Adrian said, founding impressed.

"You've learned," he said appreciatively. "What can Tino get for you?"

"Not bad," said Mary, though she really suspected that Tino knew her drink order already. It was the same thing she always ordered.

"It's my birthday," Elena said, leaning on the counter and giving Adrian her best checking-you-out grin. "Rose says I get free stuff for that. She wouldn't lie to me, would she?"

"Cosmopolitan," Mina said. "I think that will suit me, tonight."

"Club soda?" Mina remarked. "Really?"

"It's taken weeks and a lot of hitting him with rolled-up newspapers. Here for any particular reason?"

"Not about that," Rose teased. "Elena, this is Adrian." Yep, she left the last name off on purpose. "Adrian, Elena-the-birthday-girl."

"Yes! I won't have any more large crowds descending on the hotel until next May," said Mary. "Halloween usually marks the start of my slow season."

"I have to work in the morning," explained Mary. "That means setting a good example for Gunther."

"How very responsible," Mina said. "I applaud your efforts."

"I do what I can," said Mary. "It's an attempt to reconcile my quiet life in Fandom with my wild life in Las Vegas."

Mina chuckled. "Atoning for your wicked ways?" she said. "I approve of that, as well."
