Adrian was in for a surprise when he got to Caritas on Monday.

Tino had called out sick.

For a moment Adrian just looked around the bar, realizing he'd never actually watched what Tino did to set up. "Well played," he said finally. "Well played."

Sookie, frankly, needed some silence in her head for a little while. So to the bar she headed, since she didn't know where the new guy worked, and besides, Adrian had seemed nicer to her.

"Evening. No Tino to help you out tonight?" she asked, taking a seat.

"Apparently not," he said, giving her a smile. "This means you'll have to go easy on me tonight."

"So I shouldn't come up with wildly complicated drinks just to watch you sweat?" she asked, tilting her head in faux-consternation.

"You could, and in fact I encourage creativity, but know now that you're getting the easiest thing I can find," he assured her. "I'll try to surprise you."

"I actually don't drink a lot," she admitted, "so surprising me might be a neat idea. Can you make me something sweet that won't make me drunk in one sip?"

"There is absolutely no fun in that," he said, but immediately started getting a drink together. "So if you don't usually drink, what are you doing here?

"Visiting you," she said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Seeing how you're settling in, and all that. You seem to be doin' well."

His eyebrows arched, considering this. "So I get visits now," he said, passing her an amaretto sour. For her, he'd mix a drink. "I'm settling in just fine. I wouldn't mind a feeder or two within town limits, but otherwise I seem to be liking this place."

"Hey. I been lookin' for ya," Jason said without preamble, sliding onto a barstool next to her.

"You get visits," she agreed, taking the drink. "Why would you need a feeder, though? You have...you know, the stuff I gave you?"

"Hey you!" Sookie said, giving her brother a wide smile. "You found me in a bar of all places. Um, don't think I come here a lot. I don't."

He returned a quick smile before he stared in confusion. "Well whatcha doin' in here then?"

"Visiting the bartender," she said easily. "What're you doing here? Just looking for me?"

"And I appreciate it," he told her. "It's not quite the same. And there's probably some poor feeder out there wondering why they feel like they're missing out."

Jason spared a glance at said bartender, then gave her a pointed look. "Know him well do ya?" He shrugged a shoulder. "There's beer here."

She arched a brow. "Missing out? It's fun?"

Don't get ideas, Sookie.

"I'm allowed to have friends, Jason, even if they're boys," she said, rolling her eyes.

"I'm just askin' is all. I'm older, wiser, and just know more shit'n you do." And wasn't that the truth?

"It feels good to the person being bitten. There are people who live for it." He pretty much kept the look of distaste off his face, but the everpresent smirk made that easy.

"You're older," Sookie agreed amiably.
