Dite's Decadent Delights, Tuesday Afternoon
Raven was fortunate that she made it to work without incident. Professors Skywalker and Sun had mentioned vegetable-based attacks, but surely the shop would be safe from attack. Just to be safe, she only had bread and cheese for lunch.
The shop was quiet this early in the afternoon, and she was passing the time reading when she heard a noise from the back room. "Hercules?" she called. The kitten, however, was in the front of the store, having discovered some feathered items that surely had to be cat toys. Fortunately, they were on a high enough shelf that they were frustratingly out of reach. For now, at least. Cunning kitten intelligence would not be thwarted for long.
She heard a noise again. "Lady Aphrodite?" she said, getting up to move to the door. She wasn't sensing any, ahem, activities from the back room, so she didn't think the goddess was in, but she knocked nonetheless. When she received no answer, she opened up the door....
...and found the back room occupied by a huge tomato, a large carrot, and a pair of gigantic cucumbers. With long sharp teeth. Making strange gibbering noises. And radiating hunger.
Raven gasped and flung the door closed, but not before one of the cucumbers took a bite out of her arm. The gibbering vegetables began throw themselves against the door as she pressed her back against it. She couldn't just teleport out because she didn't want to leave Hercules (who hadn't realized yet that anything was amiss). But she wasn't going to be able to hold the door closed for long.

She was facing the front of the store and didn't see her employee right away, just Hercules attempting to scale several shelves.
"Raven?" She spotted the cat. "Herc, get down from there!" She thought about brandishing the knife at him, but just glared instead.

Not dirty.
"Lady Aphrodite?" Raven called, still struggling with the door. "You must get Hercules out of here. There is something monstrous in the back room!"

A glance at Hercules found him still climbing unconcernedly. "Herc's fine." As long as the shelving didn't give way.
With a determined stride, she joined Raven by the door. "Are you okay? What happened to your arm?"
She still hadn't noticed the red stains on the gown.

She stared at 'Dite (trying not to stare at the parts the see-through dress was revealing). "Are you injured?" She wasn't sensing pain, but the dress was stained with red.

There was more pounding at the door, and 'Dite glared at it. "This is my store, and if I didn't give it to the gremlins when they attacked, I'm not giving it over to some mutant salad stuffs! Are you with me, Raven?"

"Okay. When I tell you to, open the door, but keep it between you and those . . . things, okay? I'm gonna blast them to smithereens!"
She pulled up the sleeves that were barely there in the first place. "Ready? Now!"

they exploded. Everywhere. Covering the goddess and general area with tiny bits of vegetable goo.
'Dite took a moment to wipe some of the goo from her face, then shook her hands and shivered. "Let me guess. This is Fandom's way of saying people need more fiber in their diet, right?"
She didn't see the tomato covered by Raven's soul-self.

"Cover me; I'm going in." She took two steps toward the door, then stopped and smiled. "I always wanted to say that. In a situation like this, I mean."
And then she entered the back room. The sound of a scuffle and chopping soon followed, even as the now docile tomato rolled through the doorway.

She eyed the tomato after making certain 'Dite had the carrot well in hand. "This one has no hunger in it anymore. What should we do with it?"
no subject
"I don't know. If we keep it long enough it might turn back into a real tomato. Put it back in the fridge?" Even though she doubted that she could actually eat that particular tomato. Like ever.

'Dite shook her head. "Next time, leave the cat."
