'Dite's Decadent Delights, Tuesday

Raven didn't have Ariela when she arrived at work today, but she did have a Hercules clamoring for attention. She petted him for awhile before opening the newly arrived boxes of merchandise to see what she could put away.

The Kinky Snowman 3? She Must Have Him Before He Melts? There were Christmas porn movies?

'Dite's Decadent Delights was open for all your holiday needs.

It was in the afternoon sometime that Aphrodite appeared at the shop. She had a box under her arm and a rose in her hand.

The box landed on the counter. The rose hovered in the air in front of Raven.

"Raven! How are you today?"

"I'm . . . a little sad. I went back to Greece over the weekend, stopped in at a hidden monument to an old warrior friend." She sighed. "Sometimes I think humans have the worst of it, because their lives are so short, but then I think about it and . . . I'm not so sure. At least when they die, they know they've lived. When you've been around as long as me -- you sometimes get tired and wonder what it's all about. Why am I still here? What am I really supposed to be doing? I have all this power, and the duty to spread love in the world, but -- why does the universe even exist? Is it really all about how long you live? Or about how well you live?"

Existential goddess was very existential.

"Father not a nice guy, huh? Well, it's okay. You're loved anyway, Sweet Pea." And with a smile, existential time was over.

"Need you to do me a favor." She took a piece of paper and an envelope out of the box.

The paper said You are cordially invited to an all island Holiday celebration!, and listed a time and place for the party.

"I need all of these," she held up the invitations, "stuffed in all of these." And she held up the envelopes. "Think you can do that?"

"For the whole island." Flipping through a stack, she pulled out an envelope with Raven's name. Handing it to her with an invitation, she grinned. "Here. Now there's one less to stuff!"

If Raven opened the invitation, she'd see all the information, including instructions to bring something that reminded her of home or the holidays she'd celebrate at home, to be hung on the tree at the party.

"Well, I don't really celebrate Christmas. Not my thing. But this is the time of year for Solstice, and I really enjoy celebrating that. It's the time of year when Persephone returns from the Underworld, and yes, trees are traditional in several mid-winter holidays." She tilted her head. "I wouldn't think Azarath would celebrate Christmas, but did you have any celebrations at all?"

"Really?" Aphrodite stared at her for a moment. "You know, I think that's a little sad." After all, love is an emotion, and the idea that a whole world couldn't enjoy the divine feeling she could inspire made the goddess of love pout, just a little bit.

For a moment. Then she was fine.

"But you'll come to the party, right? There'll be dinner and fun and dancing, and mistletoe!"

Right. Great thing to tell the empath, wasn't it?

"I'm so glad!" Impulsively she reached to hug Raven. "And now I'll let you get back to studying or . . . reading." She winked. "See you laterrrrr!"

And she zapped herself out of the store.
