It was mildly depressing to have to give up the child she and Azula had been taking care of for two weeks.

On the other hand: freedom!

So it was a pretty perky Maron minding the counter after her first period class, yes.

With the approaching weekend, Jason thought it'd be a good idea to stock up on condoms. And with that some beef jerky, microwave pizza sandwiches, and baby oil. A six pack of beer was added to that as well.

He piled the items on the counter and slipped his wallet out from his back pocket. "Hey, how are ya?"

She grinned at him brightly.

"My free time is my own again!" she chirped. "It's exciting! And hi! Did you find everything you needed okay?"

On her afternoon stroll through town, Kate stopped by Turtle & Canary. She wandered about for a while, looking at all sorts of stuff, but eventually came up to the counter with a few containers of glitter and some other assorted crafts supplies.

"Hey Maron," she smiled. "Had to come stock up on glitter."

"Damn. You're perky," he came back with, grinning at the cute girl. "Your time ain't usually your own?"

"Nooot when a teacher gives me a fake-kid to take care of for two weeks," she said, wrinkling her nose with a cheerful shrug. "I got to give it back before coming to work today so totally excited about that."

"Kate!" she laughed. "Have you been using it? Why was I not informed?"

"I heard of that before. Teachers giving out fake babies to make us think safe sex before screwin'," he commented with a nod. "It'd jest make me realize what I already know."

She eyed his purchases silently for just a second.

Okay, he had that covered. Maron was just going to pretend she wasn't noticing that. That was omigod embarrassing. "Maybe you're ahead of the crowd then," she teased lightly. "But yeah--apparently they do it in Ethics now?"

He smirked at her. "I don't know about that. Last I checked, teenagers love sex."

Americans were so forward about these things, omigod. Poor poor Maron.

She pinked right up. "I think it'd be better if, um, they learnt to love love first?"

A) Romantic at heart and b) not allowed to have sex. SIGH.

Right. Jason knew a virgin when he saw one. Least he liked to think he did. "Girl, you're all kinds of red," he said, grinning ear to ear at her. "Cute too. But love ain't got nothin' to do with sex."

"It does to me," she said, flushing worse but tossing her head defiantly anyway. "At least, how I understand it all."

He shrugged lightly. He'd been burned good and he'd never allow himself to be drawn in again. "I guess for some people," he mumbled, drawing bills from his wallet.

Awww. Now she felt bad.

"I mean," she offered, apologetically. "If you'd rather go about it another way, that's okay too, for sure."

"That's not an offer is it?" he flirted, looking at her.

"For a date? Maybe!" Maron said, rattling off his total too. "For, erm, sex. Probably not?"

...

"Sorry?"

See now, he didn't much like to date either. If he thought he might get some, that was different.

"Never heard that from a girl before," he said, taking it well enough. "Might need to know your name first before I go askin' ya out."

"You started it," Maron protested, sticking her tongue out in good humour. "And it's Maron. Maron Kusakabe. Do I get your name now?"

Date or no, he was cute. Maron liked knowing names of cute guys.

Jason chuckled. "There are much better uses for that tongue besides stickin' it out at me, Maron." He'd like it a whole lot more too. "I'm Jason Stackhouse. Pleased to meet you."

"Definitely nice to meet you and--yes, better uses," she agreed with him, eyes dancing. "Like eating ice cream."

Definitely not what he'd been thinking of no, but arguably true. Ice cream was pretty awesome.

Ice cream was awesome, he'd agree with her there.

"I could get down with some ice cream," he replied, eyes dancing just as much as hers.

"Good thing that Chilly Boulder has, like, a million flavours, hmmm?"

"Ain't been there yet," he said, his mind on sex. "Ya wanna go sometime?"

Maron was more thinking 'cute guy plus ice cream equalled date equalled hurrah!'.

"Sure," she said, smiling and pleased. "I can tell you which are the best flavours."

Of course Maron had been there before. Really now.

"I kinda like chocolate best," he said, smirking. Especially when he could lick it off a pair of fine titties.

This could only end badly. Truly.

"Chocolate's a good basic," she admitted. "But there's all sorts of things you could add to it--caramel and nuts and stuff."

"...whipped cream," he said, shifting a bit.

"Mmm," she pondered that, utterly innocent to any subtext that wasn't about ice cream here. "I think I like that better on pie, honest. But it's not bad."

"Pie," he squeaked, shifting yet again. "I love pie."

She tilted her head at him.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, gimme a minute."

He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and stared down at the boxes of condoms he was purchasing.

"Holy hell I think we should go out tomorrow."

[Sorry! Got sidetracked into folding clothes. :D And it will be bed for me soooon!]

Maron was pretending to notice no staring. Absolutely none.

"I'm free tomorrow, so that works for me," she said, giving him a slightly dubious look. "But only if you're sure you're feeling okay."

Oh, Maron.

[NP! *wandered off for a bit as well, hahaha* SP is amaaazing y/y?]

"I haven't been using it for anything interesting," Kate chuckled. "If I had, I promise you'd be the first to know. No, I used some to decorate some drawings, and then I accidentally dumped a lot of it in one of my desk drawers."

Maron cringed. "Oh no! I bet you're going to be finding it for ages in that case!"

"I know. I'm just trying to keep it from spreading too much," Kate replied, wrinkling her nose. "Anyway. How's things with you?"

"Sure, I'll be jest fine," he answered with a definite nod. He'd take care of his needs as soon as he got back to his room. Porn comes in handy with situations like these.

Money on the counter, he asked: "Want me to swing by your room tomorrow, or jest meet ya there?"

[I was sleeeepy last night too, so obviously he couldn't have closed his eyes and stare at his condoms at the same time LOL. And yes SP is super!]

"Maybe you could try vacuuming it up?" she suggested, then shrugged a bit. "Today? Is just looovely. I'm free of my robot-child!"

"Maybe meet up at the lobby of the dorms?" she suggested, as a happy medium between the two. "That way there's no imposition on either of us!"
