The Arms Hotel Lobby, Friday [12/4]

It should have been the perfect day to finish putting up holiday decorations, but Mary had other things to take care of first. Her farm needed to be tended to, there were dishes on her stoves, and she had fish to feed. Sometimes it was a wonder that she got anything done when she wasn't playing on Facebook.

Who will probably want to know if you'll be her Farmville neighbor.

Mike was fairly exhausted by the time his portal dropped him off at the causeway. Thankfully, the hotel was only a short rickshaw cab ride away.

"Hey Mary," he called out as he entered the lobby. "My meetings in Monaco got canceled, so guess who got some time off for the weekend?"

"Mike!" squealed Mary, getting out from behind the desk so she could give her friend a proper hug. "Did you at least get a chance to stop in Las Vegas after Thanksgiving?"

"Very briefly. I saw Piper and Cooper for a little bit. She would have come with me, except she had some major high roller check in for the weekend," said Mike. "And Cooper said that Danny and Delinda are fine, just getting away from the madness for a little while."

Mary opened her mouth, about to ask if Mike had seen Sam Marquez, then thought better of it. "So, did you tell your parents?" she asked after an awkward pause.

"Tell my parents about what?" asked Mike.

"That you're married?" asked Mary

"Well, no, not yet. I'm waiting for a the right moment... Oh, wow, is that Gunther? Good to see you, buddy!" said Mike, rushing off to give Gunther a fist bump.

"Gunther, tell Mike that he's going to have to tell his parents about the wedding eventually," said Mary.

"Gunther, can you remind Mary that she's met my parents and that they will hit the roof if they found out that I had a Vegas wedding," said Mike.

Poor Gunther kept looking back and forth between them, as if he was watching a ping pong game.

"I'm just saying," said Mary. "Look, you're going to have the face the music eventually. That's all I'm going to say on the matter."

"Thanks, Mom," said Mike. "Really, you should have been there when Delinda's mom found out. Jillian gave me a big hug and asked if I could convince Danny and Delinda to finally tie the knot."

"She didn't!" said Mary, giggling. "Wow, I wish I had been there. What did Delinda say to her mother?"

"She reminded Jillian that the last time she tried to get married, her father got shot, so it was just safer for everyone involved if they kept things status quo," said Mike.

"That whole wedding was insane! Ed got shot, Casey was my date for the wedding but completely disappeared, and Delinda and Danny were sleeping together but no one told me," said Mary, shooting a glare at Mike.

"But that's just all ancient history, right?" asked Mike. "Besides, it all worked out in the end for everyone, except Casey, I guess."

"It was a long time ago, almost another lifetime," said Mary, looking a bit wistful as she thought about Casey.

"Anyway," she went on, trying to shake it off, "things are pretty fully booked this weekend, but I still have an extra bedroom in my suite if you want it."

"Dude, I'd be happy just to sleep on the couch! Thank you so much, Mary. You're a sweetheart," said Mike, grinning. "Yo, Gunther! Can you give me a hand with my bags?"

"It is going to be great to have you in town for the weekend," said Mary. "By the way, I have a question for you. Are you on Facebook?"

Because you don't need Mary nagging you.

I will be unavailable for most of the afternoon but around this evening. There are plenty of available rooms (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pz2yiwm77W2B1lfvw8XhKAA&single=true&gid=0&output=html) for any alumni coming in for the weekend. However, I know at least one person has set things up so that their reservation is "lost." If you don't want to play out a check in, e-mail me and we'll work something out.
