Ye Old Preserves [late afternoon]
Mat decided that the morning rides on Pips were a bloody insane practice to continue (since he tended to rise at the crack of...noon), and so today he'd gone riding at a much more reasonable time.
He was now taking a break as Pip explored the low-growing shrubbery (it was important to know how these things tasted, after all), leaning against a tree and whittling.
[OOC: Expecting one, but if you are randomly walking through the forest, knock yourself out...]

A pain she knew she would never get over.
Karla was so intent on her tears and emotional agony that she didn't even notice Pips or Mat until it was too late. Karla dashed into Pips's flank at full speed. That alone would have been enough to daze her, but physics had her bouncing backwards from her collision and circumstances had her collided with a tree.
And down Karla went, falling to the ground in a daze.

"I think I hit my head," she murmured, far more concerned with the revelation of how deeply she loved Mat than any passing injury.
Merlin who?
She slowly pushed herself up into a sitting position. "Mat. I'm so happy to see you. I don't think I've been happier to see anyone in my whole life."

sexyhandsome, but she had never realized just what a pinnacle of masculine perfection he was. "No, no, I'm okay," she said automatically, having ascertained that with Craft.Until another thought struck her. "Actually, now that you mention it, I'm not so sure," she sais, looking up at him with big eyes. "I feel a little sore. Maybe even dizzy." She leaned towards him as if she couldn't sit upright on her own.

What? She couldn't not add that part!

He didn't really remember her being this...forward...when they'd gone riding together. "Would you like to take Pips back to the dorms, then?" he asked.

At his invitation, she clambered up on Pips with ease, possibly belying any remaining 'injury' on her part. And flashed him a winning smile. "Thank you so much for your offer. I'm sure I'll be nice and warm on the way back, snuggled in your finely muscled arms."

And he would know, having tried it a couple of times.

Which totally meant they could focus on other activities.

Hopefully it didn't make her look like she had a concussion or anything.
She patted the saddle behind her and waited for him to clamber up. "Does kissing someone breatheless count as light snuggling?" she asked.
Emma would be so proud.

"Please, Mat," Karla said, giving his a sassy smile. "I'm far too good a rider for that. I don't think there's anything you could do that could endanger me."
Why yes that was a challenge! Subtle Karla was subtle!

It was amazing how anything could be used to support that thesis, once pesky things like logic and reality were ignored.
She did use the movement as an excuse to snuggle more closely to Mat though. The forward momentum and all. Or something. Whatever.
"I'm absolutely certain that I don't have anywhere enough experience with these sorts of things as you do," she informed him, twisting partway around to give him a smile. "Perhaps I should leave the wager up to you then. What are you willing to lose?"

Because, right now, he was the only thing she wouldn't be willing to give up.
"Perhaps an item of jewelry then?" she suggested archly. "I have an heirloom piece that I'm thinking would suit you just fine."
She was talking about her father's Consort ring, in fact
which was not one of those rings and that's a thought I will never get rid of. Great.no subject
Should he lose, which he was in no way intending.
He adjusted his hat and grinned impishly.
[OOC: and his mun FINALLY remembered to click 'post comment'...]

Karla congratulated herself on a most brilliant scheme. Here she was, cozily snuggled up against her true love, proposing a game that would begin with kisses and end with jewelry.
Truly, she was a mastermind.

With a thought, three pairs of phantom hands were created and set upon him. Though with his amulet, Karla wasn't certain they'd work.

IT WAS ALL HIS FAULT FOR BEING UNCLEAR.

She thought she was speaking clearly, but maybe she was just confused. Thank the Darkness Mat was willing and able to take such good care of her! Truly theirs was a love meant to last forever!

"Yes."
Going to hell, Mat.

"You'll take care of me in my extremity won't you?" It wasn't really a question. People in love took care of one another, after all. "It shouldn't be long. I can Heal myself with Craft. And then we can get back to the important things."
Like discussing their lives together.
"Like discussing our lives together."
no subject
"Our lives together?"
So we'll just ignore that tone of voice, shall we?
no subject
"Don't worry," she assured him. "You'll make a very handsome and dapper Consort, even if you aren't Blood. My Court will come to accept and respect you. It'll be tough in the beginning, sure, but we'll just grow closer in adversity."

She tried to turn Pips around, but the horse was having none of it. Instead, Karla was treated to a hard gallop back to the stables, where Pips then showed no inclination of doing anything other than staying there and eating.
Dratted horse.
