Ghanima and Tyler were there early tonight as they waited for people to trail in.

"It's winter break, so you all get brownie points for showing up," Ghanima said cheerfully, Tyler nodding along in agreement. "But we're going to be lazy and let you all pick your own partners today."

"So pair up and hit the mats, or go to work on the punching bags."

[OOC: Tyler lovingly modded w/ permissions. The RNG got lost in that snowpocalypse out east, but the OCD ~~is on its way~~ made it safely! Post is open!]

Shake off all the snow!

Warming up seemed like a good idea. Pounce had still refused to set a foot outside, claiming it was too cold to his paws. Fandom was turning them both soft, it appeared.

Jack started his stretching and warm-up routine.

Leto shook his cloak off outside. At least it had offered some protection against snow on the way here.

A warm up was probably advisable today.

For beginners, and those wanting to use the punching bags / work on their skills with Lady Ghanima.

Like the name says! It is sparring that is open!

Jack was ready to take on anyone who wanted to, regardless of skill level. Because he thought he was just that good.

Once they tag-in

Ghanima was there, and happy to talk with people.

"Hey," Tyler nodded, when they seemed to have a spare minute. "Ready for the break?"

"I've finished the classroom work for the semester, and I already even have something vaguely resembling a syllabus for next semester," Ghanima laughed. "I'm not quite sure what to do with myself for the next two weeks."

"You could decide to be randomly Christan for a week and do Christmas," Tyler said idly. "... road trip? I dunno. I got an invitation from some people i went to school with but I'm so much older it'd be weird."

"Yes, because me with a large tree in my suite isn't a recipe for some sort of comedy," Ghanima laughed. "I might go home, or call up Faith and Renee or Aly, and see who caves in to my whining first."

"What do your friends want to do? You're not that old, Tyler."

Tyler blinked. "Do evergreens attack on your planet or something?" he wondered, because Christmas trees struck him as pretty innocuous, all things considered. "It's nothing. Just one of the other-world types is having a reunion thing. Seriously, I'd feel out of place, and I don't want to make the trip anyhow."

"No, but me attempting to decorate a tree could only end in disaster," she replied cheerfully. "Well, if I end up staying around here, I may drag you out for pizza with me. As much as I love my brother and stepmother, some non-family company is good for me on occasion."

"Didn't know you were clumsy," Tyler said, a little surprised because she wasn't. But it wasn't like it was any skin off his nose if she didn't want a tree, so... "Yes, by the way. We should have pizza. I still have to figure out what to get Tony, too."

Clumsy? No. Prone to overloading the tree with things until it fell over and resembled a dead Dalek? Possibly. This was Ghanima.

"You mean the two of you don't have enough gifts left over from the wedding?" she teased, nudging him slightly in the ribs.

"It's more the old what-do-you-give-a-billionaire problem," Tyler said, coming as close to ignoring her tone as he could. "Was easier last year. He was a pony."

Yeah, Tyler was around, and trying to figure out what he was doing with his break.

Since we figured people are still working on apps / teaching syllabi, we ditched the RNG.

Please consider this advance notice that there will be no Fight Club on Newbie Weekend. Tyler and Ghanima do not want to traumatize people too badly before the first week of classes.
