The Arms Hotel Lobby, Thursday [12/24]

Hoshi was not planning on heading home for the holidays. She wouldn't have minded seeing her father, but Christmas with her mother and siblings was almost a recipe for disaster. She had no problem with coming in to work on Christmas Eve, either. Instead of sitting at the front desk, though, she took Porthos to play in the snow just outside the hotel entrance.

They hadn't been out there long when a reindeer with Christmas lights in its antlers stumbled out of the nearby trees. "Huh. That's something you don't see everyday," said Hoshi, staring at the reindeer.

Oz couldn't make it home for Christmas this year, but he had no intention of spending the holiday holed up in his van. So after wandering the town for a bit, he found his way to the hotel.

He too was bemused to see the reindeer. "Guess they're not indigenous."

"Heard of those." Oz nodded. "Never seen one." Not that he doubted their existence. He'd seen too much in his life to doubt such things simply cause he'd never seen it.

"Always figured them for vegetarians." He sure could go for some fried shrimp now that she mentioned it though. His stomach rumbled.

"Maybe there's a secret grove." His kidding voice sounded like his regular voice, so it was not surprising if people didn't know when he was joking.
