'Dite's Decadent Delights, Tuesday afternoon

Raven was still distracted by the news about her father when she arrived at work on Tuesday. She knew technically she was forbidden to return to Azarath since she'd forsaken her home, but maybe she could somehow slip back and speak to her mother about what she had been told. It was Azarath, after all. What were they going to do? Give her stern looks?

'Dite's Decadent Delights was open.

Maybe make a snide remark or two before apologizing for it?

Karla entered 'Dite's, doing her best to marshal all of her arguments together. While she most certainly believed that Trigon should be stopped, she was more than a little uncomfortable with Raven placing all of her trust in a group of strange males. She might not have sensed any ill-intent coming from Alligator or whatever, but that didn't mean he wasn't shielding. Or wasn't simply an ignorant cat's paw. Or was just skilled at keeping his emotions at bay.

She forwent her usual 'Kiss kiss' in favor of, "Seriously, Raven? You agreed?!"

Diplomacy: not her gift.

"I told him I was willing to do all I could to stop my father," Raven said, biting at her lip. "But I have as of yet taken no action."

"You are far too good for your own good," Karla said, fondness and exasperation in equal measure in her tone. "You didn't swear any oaths or anything, right? Did you promise to help him or just stop your father?"

"I am not bound by anything other than my wish to stop my father," Raven said, trying not to feel foolish. "And I told him I would help if that was his goal. He said that their previous attempts to stop Trigon did not have the aid of any child of his, a link to focus upon."


[Have to go afk for a bit -- back in about an hour!]

Karla grew serious, leaning over to reach for Raven's hand. "That scares me," she said quietly. "If these males get their hands on you, there's no saying what they might do. A ritual to stop your father might look an awful lot like one to summon him, especially with the blood-link between you. I know you want to stop Trigon--I didn't like the looks of what I saw of him, either--but you must tread very carefully. This Alligator guy could be playing a very deep and dangerous game."

Raven nodded, squeezing Karla's hand. "I will try to find out more before I will participate in any ritual," she promised. "But if there is a chance I can protect this world or Azarath, I must take it."

Karla couldn't actually argue against the responsibility Raven was taking upon herself--not without being a giant hypocrite anyway--but that didn't mean she had to like it. "Is there a rule that says you have to do it by yourself?" she asked. "I don't think I could let you walk alone into this Arcerian cat den."

"I will tell them I must bring others with me," Raven said. "Would that be acceptable?" She had to admit she'd feel better with her friends there in case something did go wrong.

"Can you get copies of their records, too?" Karla asked, only half-joking. "Knowing just who they are and what they intend to do will make me feel better about trusting them."

Karla wanted to know in advance if it was going to end with a big knife through Raven's heart as they chanted Trigon's name. It was a thing.

"I will find out all I can," Raven promised. "If indeed they have opposed Trigon before, surely Azarath would have some sort of knowledge of this."

"Knowledge that doesn't come from them is even better," Karla agreed. "Maybe people who come from worlds like yours, too? Didn't Dinah know some of the people you know? If we get information from their worlds, the guys in your world might not even know you're looking."

"Dinah's world is indeed very similar to mine," Raven said thoughtfully. "And Hayley's as well. There is a Gotham in all our worlds. It may be that Dinah could find out information about them, as she did for me about Sebastian."

[glacial_queen]

"It'll give her something to do while she's recovering, anyway," Karla said, thinking. "Especially is we say it'll be like practicing for her future PI job."

[trigons_child]

"Recovering?" Raven gave Karla a concerned look. "She is ill? Or injured?"

Karla had no problem telling Raven everything, especially since it had been all over the radio. "Azula acted like a spoiled, petty bitch when they were sparring and summoned lightning because Dinah was giving her more of a workout that she'd expected."

No Karla didn't have a bias. Shut up.

"She told Dinah to get out of the way, but not quickly enough. The lightning shattered a boulder, Dinah got a concussion, some bruised ribs, and scoured by sand. She wouldn't let me Heal her over the weekend, either." Grumpy Healer was grumpy. "Hopefully so she could use the pain as an object lesson."

"I heard something about that, but I did not realize Dinah had been harmed," Raven said. "She would rather linger in bed and suffer than allow you or me to heal her? I truly do not understand people sometimes."

She totally didn't need to be an empath to share Karla's grumpiness about that.

[glacial_queen]

"Especially since this is Dinah," Karla grumbled. "She knows we know what we're doing. And she'd probably rather have her teeth yanked out than spend time resting." She sighed and brushed a lock of hair out of her face. "I'm pretty sure she just wanted to have battle scars when she confronted Azula or something. It's hard to make a case calling her a crazy psychopath if Dinah doesn't have a scratch on her."

That made a certain amount of sense, even if Raven didn't like it.

"Will Azula be punished for harming Dinah?" she asked.

Karla set her jaw and reluctantly shook her head. "Not this time," she said. "And not officially. If there is ever a next time, however..."
