It wasn't his normal work day, but Dimitri had reports to catch up on. And if you thought it was easy writing an interim report to the Headmistress when your charge was currently a wild animal, well, you hadn't been in Fandom very long.

Emerging from his office feeling frustrated with his composition, Dimitri set up a team of new dummies and pulled his long, silver stake from its sheath. It was a good test for their durability, after all.

Ash had spotted the gym in her wanderings around town and, after all of that carnival food this weekend, decided it was high time to establish a regular workout routine.

She walked in and looked around to see what her options were.

Staying aware of his surroundings was an important aspect of the Guardian training, allowing Dimitri to notice the new arrival while he wrapped up his workout.

Yanking the silver stake free from a dummy that had been knocked to the floor and setting the stuffed being back on its stand, he looked over at Ashley. "Finding what you need?"

The stake startled her and it took a moment for her to process what he had said. "Oh, yeah, just looking to see what machines and classes you have."

Dimitri slid the stake back into the sheath that hung from his hip and walked closer. "We offer a variety of courses. I could offer you a schedule? What is your primary interest?" He would recommend Tae Bo if only to keep Jessi out of his hair.

Ashley looked up (and up and up because, wow, he was tall) and smiled. "A schedule would be great," she said. "I'd be interested in kickboxing if you have it. Or any martial arts."

Dimitri crossed over to the front desk and plucked a paper to hand to her. "Do you have much prior martial arts training?" He could only imagine what Rose would do to a newbie.

"You could say that," Ash said with a smirk. "I've been training in a variety of disciplines for about twenty years."

"And still you want to take a class?" Call him curious.

"I want to keep my skills up," she said with a shrug.

He found it even more curious how little she offered in explanation, or in frustration with his questions. "Twenty years is a long time to just keep your skills up. Have much use for them?"

"At home? Yes. And I've heard that they might come in handy here," Ashley said.

"From my understanding, in Fandom, anything is possible," Dimitri found himself murmuring in agreement. He was never certain what to share with those who may be new and easily concerned by things like syrup rain and animal transformations.

"I'm Dimitri Belikov, manager here at Atlas," he said finally, raising his lightly accented voice to be heard and extending a strong hand.

"Ashley Magnus," she replied, shaking his hand firmly. "Are you from Russia, by chance?"

"Originally," he confirmed, giving her hand a good shake. "You have a good ear. Last guess I had was German." But did Jessi count as guessing?

"German? Seriously?" Ash shook her head. "I've traveled a fair amount so I tend to recognize accents."

She glanced around at the various workout gear. "You have a great set up here. I'll probably be around a lot. Need something to fill up my time."

"You've been to Russia?" That wasn't something Dimitri heard often.

Ashley nodded. "I've visited the Moscow branch of the company my mother and I work for."

Dimitri nodded. "And does your work bring you to Fandom?"

"Not exactly," Ash said carefully. "Some stuff went down at home and I needed to find somewhere else to live for a while."

"Then I'd presume correctly that you're here by choice?" Unlike his poor roommate.

Ashley nodded. "Yes, a family friend suggested it. I didn't fall through a hole or anything."
