Cafe Fina, Tuesday [2/2]

Lion-o had heard that there was a new owner at Café Fina, so he was keeping a watchful eye out while Snarf cleaned the place from top to bottom. He also tried to get the pepper shaker to share whatever gossip the rest of the staff had gathered.

Lulu was making it a point to come in and see each of her new employees, so today she made her way back down to Fina.

"You must be Lion-O," she said, smoothly covering up her surprise. Although she did spare a moment to think, "Well, that explains the name."

"Professor Lulu! It's good to see you again," said Lion-o. "I took your underwater basket-weaving class a couple summers ago and really enjoyed it."

Of course, Lion-o had been through a massive growth spurt since Lulu left the island, so he was probably very unrecognizable from the little boy she had taught.

Lulu blinked, and though she'd tried to block all memory of that course from her mind, she did, now, remember the small felinoid who'd been in the class.

"Oh! Yes, of course," she said, covering smoothly again. "Forgive me, it's been so long since that class, I didn't connect the name -- and you seem to have grown considerably since then."

[... *facepalm* I have a memory, really, I do.]

"Yeah, that seemed to catch everyone by surprise, including me," said Lion-o. "What brings you here today? Did you want to try the special?"

"Well," Lulu explained, "I've been making it a point to come in and meet all of my new employees."

"So you're the new owner of Café Fina," said Lion-o. "Congratulations! It's a great place. I've really enjoyed working here."

Lulu couldn't help but smile. "I'm enjoying it so far," she said. "I have to ask -- is there anything you don't like about working here? Anything I should take into consideration?"

Lion-o looked over his shoulder to make sure the rest of the staff was occupied, then lowered his voice to a whisper so only Lulu could hear him. "I love working with everyone, especially the pepper shaker. But sometimes I catch the cheese grater staring at me with this weird look on his face."

"... What kind of weird look?" Lulu asked, but all she could think was, 'Oh please, please let this not be that kind of look, please, please, please.'

"I'm not quite sure how to describe it," said Lion-o. "Anyway, it only started last fall, after my trip home and my, uh, accelerated growth. Maybe the cheese grater needed a little time to adjust."

"... Yes. It must be that. I'm sure he'll stop soon enough."

If it was anything else, Lulu really didn't want to know. (Unless it started interfering with anyone's work.)

"There's nothing else that concerns you?" she added. "Do you need to change what day you're working, or...?"

"No, I'm perfectly alright with Tuesdays," said Lion-o. "And the rest of the staff is just great. They're a lot friendlier than the guys I work with at my other job."
