J,GOB, Wednesday Afternoon

After dropping off the letter to her grandfather at the post office, Summer decided to picking up some baked goods. She was craving something sweet. Maybe something with chocolate in it.

And considering she wasn't the greatest baker in the world, J,GOB was the logical destination. Summer took a moment to decide and ended up with a couple of cupcakes and a large coffee.

She found a table near the window and considered picking up a lemon bar on her way out.

Ashley was on a quest to check out every business in town at some point. Today, her sweet tooth led her to J,GOB.

She studied the display case and finally decided on a raspberry danish and a cup of Earl Grey since it reminded her of her mother.

She looked around, trying to decide where she wanted to sit.

Summer looked up from her coffee and smiled lightly. Someone she hadn't met yet!

"If you're up for some company, you're welcome to sit here," she offered, gesturing to the empty seat across from her.

"Sure, thanks," Ash said, taking the seat. "I haven't had the chance to meet a lot of people yet. Just moved her last week. I'm Ashley."

"Well, you can add one more person to that list," Summer said. "It's nice to meet you, I'm Summer. I wasn't sure if you were new to the island or if I had somehow missed you these past few months. Good to know I'm not that oblivious," she joked.

"I imagine that would be difficult," Ashley said. "It seems like a small town where everyone knows everyone else."

"In reality, it would be, yes," Summer nodded. "When you get down to it, Fandom's a tight knit community. We stick together no matter what."

If the invasions were any indication.

Ash nodded. "That's good to hear, I guess. Nice to know people have your back when something goes wrong."

"Yeah, it is," Summer replied, taking a moment to sip her coffee. "So, what brings you to Fandom? If you don't mind me asking, that is."

"Needed a place to get away from home," Ash said with a shrug, trying to play it off like it was no big deal. "How about you?"

"Something like that," Summer admitted, with a small smile. "Apparently, I was working too hard and my dad thought I needed a change of scenery. Fandom was the optimal choice and I can't say I disagree."

"Where are you from?" Ashley asked, hoping that if she asked enough questions, Summer wouldn't ask any in return.

"I'm originally from California but now I live in Washington D.C.," Summer explained. "It took a bit getting used to but I can't imagine living anywhere else."

"Do you go into the city often?" Ash asked.

"Not as much as I'd like to," Summer admitted. "And I should really change that." Since she didn't have an excuse not to and the island made it easy to access.
