Cafe Fina, Sunday

Lulu's smile was bright as she flipped the sign on Cafe Fina's door from 'Closed' to 'Open'. The last few days had been a flurry of handwavy activity as downstairs got some touch-ups -- and the upstairs apartment was completely renovated. She'd not yet moved her stuff over from the hotel, but otherwise the place was ready for anyone interested to move in.

Taking a seat at the front counter, Lulu finished up the specials board, ready for the first customer at the new Cafe Fina.

Somewhere around noon there was a blonde in a purple jacket that came bouncing into the place and paused.

Stared a bit.

"You're not Zack." She'd been expecting Zack. And that wasn't Zack unless he'd... changed. Quite a bit. Ow. Her head hurt.

A beat.

"Um. I mean, hi?" A quick smile. "How're you?"

"Ino!" Lulu said, laughing. "Hello! No, I'm not Zack; I've taken over the Sunday shift, and he's moved to Mondays.

"I'm good," she added. "Is there anything I can get you? Perhaps a panini?"

"I'm going to kick him," she informed Lulu, grinning as she made her threat. "We talked yesterday and he didn't say anything 'bout moving shifts."

Mean!

"I'd love a panini, sure." Ino glanced around. "You've been making some changes, I see. Looks nice."

"Thank you! Just a few changes, really," Lulu said. "Most of the renovations were to the apartment upstairs." She wrote down the order to send it back to the kitchen. "Can I get you something to drink, as well?"

"Just water for me, please," she said, smiling at that. "Guess it's been busy, huh, taking over a restaurant? I wouldn't even know where to begin."

She was sixteen, of course she'd have no idea.

Paige was dressed in a cute but casual (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v163/ladybug218/FH%20Stuff/roselittleblackdress.jpg) little black dress when she showed up at Cafe Fina. She was meeting Derek, yes, but she also wanted to chat a little more with Lulu.

"Wow, this is impressive," she remarked.

"Thank you, Paige!" Lulu replied. "It's a pleasure to see you again. Are you looking for a table? For one?"

"For two, actually," Paige said. "I'm meeting someone here. But I wanted to get here a few minutes early so we could chat more."

Lulu nodded, grinning. "Did one of last night's dates prove... fruitful, then?" she asked. "Or is this simply a friend?"

"Neither, oddly enough," Paige said. "Well, he was there last night but we weren't matched up. We got to talking after and decided to have dinner tonight."

Since he was here, he figured it would make sense to say hello to a fellow business owner. And to, well, meet some more people around here.

"You're the owner?" And he tried to make sure he didn't sound like he was investigating something.

"As of a week ago, yes," Lulu said, smiling at her new customer. And totally checking him out, because hello. "I'm Lulu, and it is a pleasure to meet you."

He gave her a nod that was very much a miniature bow.

"A pleasure to meet you, Lulu. I'm Derek. I run the hardware store not too far from here."

...and yes, Derek is checking her out. He did come to see Paige, but there is really no ignoring Lulu's appeal.

Lulu frowned, but at herself. "I wish I'd known about that before I finished my renovations," she said. "I'd have much preferred to work with local business. Ah, well," she added. "Perhaps in the future, then?"

And indeed: Lulu has rather a lot of, ahem, appeal; it's hard to miss.

After the flirting at the bar last night, Biff was certainly going to make time to get down to Cafe Fina today.

"Hello, Lulu," he said with a grin as he walked closer.

"Things are going well! Some customers, and things went all right with my renovations. Mind, most of them were upstairs; I didn't disturb things down here too much.

"Can I get you a table?" she asked. "Something to drink?"

Once Derek arrived, they were seated and Paige picked up the menu. "I'm not sure I even want to look at this," she said. "The special sounds really good."

Derek was dressed in a suit but without a tie. It worked for him; he polished up nicely.

"I like Risotto," he had to agree, "but I always take a look."

"True. And if I tell my sister about going to dinner, she'll grill me about the menu."

He started glancing through, lips shifting thoughtfully as he read over the choices.
