Cabot and Associates, Wednesday

Alex was in a very good mood as she set up in her office today. Three new employees in two weeks, and she'd taken a case yesterday. Sure, it had been quick, but it was still good to walk into a police station and be an actual lawyer again.

Plus now Gibbs owed her drinks. If not a few hours spent working on his boat ...

The door opened and Gibbs breezed into the building carrying two cups from the perk. "Morning," he said in greeting as he offered a cup filled with some weird organic tea thing. "How was your meeting with your client?"

"Oh, he's not just a client," Alex said brightly, taking the offered cup. "He's my newest employee. I'm going to make him type and file reports and do legal research until he has nightmares in Latin."

And the kid probably thought no jail time was getting off easy ...

"I have it locked in a safe-deposit box," Alex said. "I was going to do a Swiss bank account, but that seemed like it'd be annoying if I ever needed to get to it in a hurry."

"At least Tahoe has nice skiing," Alex agreed. "I'd rather be somewhere warm, though. I don't even know the last time I took a vacation. A real one, I mean, not this ... whatever this island counts as."
